    CPN cudis lumo consumer unit

I was recently asked to install a CPN cudis lumo consumer unit by a client, what a horrible and badly designed unit. I didn't like the look of it from the beginning, it felt and looked cheap and nasty, the MCB's supplied where the same, cheap and nasty as did the RCD units and main switch. The...

Do what you want, I've only been doing Electrics for over 20 years, done an apprenticeship etc. What do I know, but don't come posting on here when you can't get it signed off because you have used a plastic board and not a metal clad one as per the regs but what the hell, just do what you want.

FIRST HOME - Help with new Consumer Unit

Let me explain, you are moving the board from one location to another. You will be disconnecting all the cables and supply to the board. You want to strip the board down so you can try and fit suitable rcbo's. You are installing it in a new location. You must comply with current BS7671 regs. The...

Which ECS card can I apply for ?

I've had murder with them over it, I started my apprenticeship in 98 and it wasn't part of my course, in 2000 they gave us the option to do an NVQ but no one was interested as it was more work and there wasn't a need for it. When I've told this to the JIB there not interested all they keep...

Which ECS card can I apply for ?

People are so uneducated with regards to JIB cards, people have been misinformed and believe if you don't have a JIB card then your not an Electrician which is further from the truth. An NVQ proves nothing all it is is a money making racket brought in by the JIB to fleece people of more money, I...

Which ECS card can I apply for ?

Have a look on there website, you should be on certain rates of pay and holidays, sick pay etc. If they insist on you having the card then they have to pay you the correct rate and offer you the same perks set out by the JIB.

Which ECS card can I apply for ?

Will your company be paying you the JIB rate and offering you all the perks of being a JIB registered Electrician? Is your company JIB registered? If there not why are they asking you to get your JIB card?

FIRST HOME - Help with new Consumer Unit

Don't scrimp on the electrics, I only use Schneider or MK boards as there top quality and parts readily available. Your Electrician should be advising you about all these questions you are asking as he can see everything onsite. He should be able to determine the layout of the circuits in the...
