    Brexit. We’re out!

This needs no spin, it's bad. Things will slowly improve but they will never get back to how they were, that's obvious.

    Immersion faulty???

Did you test the old element before replacing it? Have you tested for 230v across the element with the element in place? and have you used a clamp meter to see if it's drawing the correct current? Try switching the stat on and off with the clamp meter on.

Coronavirus - Keeping it light :-)

On the subject of jigsaws, I used the first lockdown to have a go at my first one. I did it for 3 or 4 hours a night and it took me 4 months. I was quite pleased with that, it said 2 to 3 years on the box.

    EICR test

I do this all the time, did one this very day. PIR done 2 weeks ago, open live on the kitchen, went back to day, found the fault and repaired it and a couple of C3s he wanted sorting. Just edited the EICR then reissued.

    EICR test

I'm interested to know who the house holder is paying, the agent or the electrician.

    EICR test

Just looked at your picture, to me that batten holder looks to be outside of zones.

    EICR test

Binbag, Why don't you just take out public liability insurance, buy a book of MWCs from a wholesaler and do the job yourself. A basic PL policy is not a lot and you can pay monthly so what you charge for this job would probably pay at least the first few months. Then as you say you are looking...

    Central heating pump on continuous

I doubt both go to the roomstat Strima, what would open the valve. Looks like the cable goes to the heating joint box where one is the return from the roomstat and the other goes to the pump. In fact if this was a straught swap with no messing with the wiring, that has to be the case.

    Central heating pump on continuous

If I understand you, no, the one in the roomstst terminal is probally correct, the one in the live is probally for the boiler terminal.

    Central heating pump on continuous

This is all correct Brian. However as it was just a boiler swap I'm guessing no other cables were touched, just the ones in the boiler. If this is true then the four conductors will be live, neutral, heat demand and pump live out. That shouldn't be too hard to work out, and as he says the pump...

    Central heating pump on continuous

I agree, I'd get in touch and cancel, it can't be much. You said that you think the extra brown is to the pump, then take it out of the live terminal and put it into the pump live, that will probally sort it.

    Central heating pump on continuous

123 did well to spot that, I couldn't see it, even after he said it was there. I do now. What I would say is be carefull. The blue has some black tape on it so I doubt that it's a neutral. My guess, and it's just a guess, it will need to be proved. Is that the extra cable is the switched feed...

    Central heating pump on continuous

You'll have to work through the wiring Edward, trace it and make a drawing. Does the extra cable go to the pump or not? it should be easy to prove one way or another. Does it go to the room stat? if not where is the room stat cable? where's the junction box? You need to find all these things...

    Central heating pump on continuous

If, as you say, the second cable in the live terminal goes to the pump, then of course the pump will run continuously.

Can I run a new switch from an intermediate

There's an even chance of finding a permenmant live at the intermediate, if it's been wired in a traditional 3 plate system, But as you say, a very small chance of finding a neutral.

Circuit design for this water heater?

I would hold back from recomending 2.5 Avo without knowing a bit more about the installation.

Circuit design for this water heater?

It's just an immersion heater Wilko, 2 elements.

Circuit design for this water heater?

You say it's direct so it's either one or two 3Kw elements. The rest is down to you re circuit design. The MI's say 1.5 ho cable to the elements, from the isolator back to the CU is up to you.
