The letting agents may not know any better, but the sparky carrying out the EICR should certainly know that a new one's not required.

I'm interested to know who the house holder is paying, the agent or the electrician.

To be fair, if you issue electronic certs, it doesn’t take 5 minutes to remove all C2’s / C1’s and amend the observations once the remedial work has been carried out, then reissue a satisfactory EICR.

it’s what I do and certainly don’t charge for it.

I do this all the time, did one this very day.
PIR done 2 weeks ago, open live on the kitchen, went back to day, found the fault and repaired it and a couple of C3s he wanted sorting. Just edited the EICR then reissued.
