    The other thing which has crossed my mind is one of the elements is faulty when hot, clamp the current when the elements are on and does it tie up with the rating of the elements.

    I have seen SWER in Canada between Montral and Qubec In the case of the OP it may be an idea to have a decent local earth, cross bond to produce a local eqpotential zone within the property. Check that all circuit breakers are double pole and also have RCD protection.

    You will have a chimney or high level cupboard associated with this fan. Put the 13A socket or outlet plate above / behind as appropriate.

    I see a couple of answers: 1. A faulty customer RCD. 2. The coffe machine will have a small leak to earth and it could be taking the RCD over the limit if there are other appliances on the came circuit.

    Trouble with charging a large 12v battery

    Be carefull to check the DC current breaking capacity of the fuse / Circuit breaker in this application. There is something to be said for BS88 fuse links in this application.
