Splitting of UFH and Rads via Stat

The simplest way to have control of rads and UFH separately is to have two 2port valves installed one for the UHF and one for the rads. You don’t say what type of boiler you have I.e combi or system boiler but either way it’s pretty straight forward. The UHF would control one valve which in...

I believe some folk take pleasure from just riding and keeping as pets. I know very peculiar these horsey types!!!!

Best type of lighting in stables

Just to add to this debate, which I have read with amusement, I can appreciate where the OP is coming from as the stables are not classed as agricultural as the horses are not being used for meat production or used as farm working animals, nor are the stables a commercial set up, so BS7671 does...

High ze readings. Even higher zs?

Thanks for the information I’m in North Wales so I’ll see tomorrow how things have been left with homeowner.

High ze readings. Even higher zs?

I haven’t seen the RCD they have installed yet but a presume just a standard 100ma

High ze readings. Even higher zs?

Megger MDT 1553. A’s you say a calculation of the zs would be preferable now, as they have fitted front end RCD so can no longer by pass it for two lead test. Or possibly to fit an eart spike and convert to TT. But as you say I’m surprised that’s how they’ve left it, I’ve not been back to the...

High ze readings. Even higher zs?

No line-neutral test, but I was thinking maybe a neutral fault or neutral-Earth fault because as I said with rcds linked out so I am able to use a two lead test (no connection to neutral) the zs is pretty close to calculated zs+(r1+r2) whereas when using three lead test on final circuits the...

    Heating wiring advice please

Don’t be put off or daunted by heating they are a piece of p**s once you understand what you are trying to achieve, the system you show above I.e hot water, heating(rads) and underfloor heating and External oil fired boiler Isn’t as complex as you’d think. The UFH as said earlier will have its...

Telectrix, that’s the kind of attitude I like and will be doing just that tomorrow morning.

High ze readings. Even higher zs?

Their explanation as is normal with the DNO in my experience is either a damaged joint to the property or a damaged joint further down which could mean entire street etc. With ZE’s which don’t comply but there only course of action is an RCD which is pointless as consumers circuits are all rcd...

High ze readings. Even higher zs?

I agree I’d like them to dig a lovely big hole and repair but the powers that be are not allowing this to happen.

High ze readings. Even higher zs?

Yes I agree with the knock on effect small cable diameters, Rcbos etc. Yes correct it is a lead sheathed paper insulation cable. It looks like the DNO have decided not to investigate further and are just fitting an RCD whereas the fault will almost definitely be a cracked/snapped lead sheath...

High ze readings. Even higher zs?

Hi yer measured external loop which is high at 1.14 ohms, but with an R1+R2 on ring of 0.35 wouldn’t expect a ZS of nearly 4.0 ohms. I have a very similar impedance on all circuits 3.8-4.0. DNO have been out and are going to fit a front end RCD as they agree the ZE is high, but I’m sill...

High ze readings. Even higher zs?

testing a TNS installation today, found a high incoming ze of 1.14ohms, in my head putbthis down to incoming earth issue as all terminations tight, but when I test any subsequent circuit I’m getting much greater zs readings approx 4.0 ohms. I was expecting high earth loops as my incomer was high...

    3 phase low voltage??

Problem solved, well sort of. Yellow phase down cable dangling between to overhead lines in middle of field.

    3 phase low voltage??

Sorry Dave yes your right I did. I was leaning towards the L2 fault as well, Scottish power on site now so hopefully some answers shortly.

    3 phase low voltage??

They seemed to measure the same on the TT Earth and the PME Earth. The installation is TT correct.

    3 phase low voltage??

Yes in uk. PME Earth at source TT at consumer side showin 415v (approx) between L1 and L3 235v (approx) between L2 and L3 Same between L1 and L3
