    HV Vegitation clearance standards

Thats pretty standard for my neck of the woods it took 3 years of autoreclosures & outages for them to clear the short section of 11kv to our village. I was chatting to an SSE linesman the other day who says they have stepped up penalties for outage hours now so things should improve.....wait &...

I have a feeling I might be designing quite a few shed / workshop supplies before 1/1/16 ! (to be installed at a later date of course!) 25's fit OK I reckon from below behind DIN and hockeystick in and don't say bending radius....show me a domestic where the bending radius isnt compromised...

3rd Amendment Metal Consumer Units - best practice advice please

well I'm sure the good old DNO has calculated that one out fully....! I was more meaning those areas where each house has an additional 'house' at the bottom of the garden accommodating another whole family in some cases. The whole lot being fed in some cases from a single CU in the main house...

    Amendment 3 consumer uits

check out the 'amd3 compliant' rcd enclosures in the wylex/crabtree catalogues, clearly not metalclad and IIRC they even justify it with a reg interpretation

3rd Amendment Metal Consumer Units - best practice advice please

It has been suggested to me by those who reckon to know, that the area that originally yielded the stats for increased number of fires is one known to have a lot of overcrowded housing & hence overloading of CU's? If my experience of West London is anything to go by there are whole areas where...

    Class 1 fittings

    Class 1 fittings

Thanks for the replies. I suppose I was wondering if they even qualify as light fittings if the flexes and lampholders are external as such and the lampholders just mount as a shade would do. I guess a study of EN whatever will tell me that..

    Class 1 fittings

Thanks for the info on the relevant standard, I shall order one immediately, unless anybody has a link to a pdf?!

    Class 1 fittings

Yes in essence I suppose the 'fitting' is just a shade if the electrical parts are external and the lampholders are fixed as a shade would be

    Class 1 fittings

All the electrical parts are high quality & to the relevant standards and yes the flexes are external. All the holes are laser cut with radiused edges . 'The earth that comes from the ceiling' as you quaintly put it is connected to the lampholder & the lampholder is connected to the metalwork...

    Class 1 fittings

I am working with a lighting designer at the moment producing custom light fittings for a restaurant chain. Most of his designs are raw metal (steel, copper, brass) welded or riveted together with brass lampholders and 'vintage ' 3c flexes. All the lampholders are earthed via their dedicated...

3rd Amendment Metal Consumer Unit Product review

Fitted a fully populated MK dual RCD last week, £63 + VAT from Neweys. Knockouts werent really in the right places so had to very carefully drill out a 40mm for the Wiska tails gland I used (grey plastic) and the 32mm blind grommets (grey rubber)I used for circuit cables. Only one 32mm knockout...

    I've seen it all now..!

Defo very 'on trend' I did a whole loft style apartment in galv conduit for a 'designer' client not long ago with some very specific bends and sets etc to suit his aesthetic. Was dubious at first but have to say the end result with bare brick , steel windows and perfect plumb edged glass...
