As above, doing the job safely is not just about making good connections. You need to find out the specs of the UFH and work out what the power requirements are. You then need to find out if an existing circuit is suitable, UFH could require a dedicated circuit depending on load. You also need...
I had a similar thing on my focus, turned out to be a bad joint on the multipin connector on the back of the dash clocks where its soldered to the board. Must hve been one of the pins for can bus as all the computers could no longer see each other so it threw uo loads of errors including the...
As others have said you need to notify the DNO if this cable is before the service head/meter. The screw probably vapourised when it came in to contact with the live, clearimg the fault. But what you are now left with is damage to the insulation all the way through. This could lead to another...
Annoying as the tax payment on account is, it is techically on money you have already earned. Unless you earn it all at the end of the year, as you are already 10 months in to the next tax year when they take the first half.
I forgot we were only talking about 0.03mA. I don't think many meters would even measure in that range. You memtion 12v equipment connected by hoses? Is this some kind of electronic tap? Or other device to control a water valve. I would have thought this would have to be SELV and so completely...
Thinking about it, equipment damage coupled with current flowing in bonded pipework, could indicate a TNCS supply with a high resistance PEN conductor.
In any case it's probably worth getting someone in with a calibrated loop impedance tester to establish the supply type and if there is a good...
Are yiu measuring N to E insulation with a multimeter? You need to carry out a proper insulation test at 500v to get a true reading. Sounds like you also need to carry out proper earth loop tests to get ZE and ZS for the circuits. This will show most faults on the instalation.
The earth sleaving insulates the bare earth conductor and prevents it from coming in to contact with a live conductor when its all squashed together in the box. Ideally it should be dressed in a bit neater to help prevent this as well.
I would recomend getting the electrician to check the...
To clarify, the M12 is an add on to your burglar alarm, which will trigger an alarm via the burglar alarm system if there is a fire. It is powered by 12v DC (same as a car battery) and sends a signal down the alarm wire if it detects a fire. If you remove this sensor it will cause a fault on...
Also, if the switch has become damaged through overheating, it is likely that the ends of the cable are also damaged. If you havent cut them back before replacing the switch, you will still have a high resistance through the corroded cable which will continue to overheat.
Have a look in the light switches, especially doubles and 3 gang etc, to see if someone has taken the line across to feed a second switch which maybe then runs to a wall light/outside light etc and then down to a socket for the neutral. If you can't gain access to the wiring in the ceiling void...
If you do go down the route of a single 1000w PSU then your main power rails will probably need to be somewhere around 50mm2 to handle that kind of current. You will need to calcukate this properly to make sure you dont get voltage drop (as mentioned earlier). You will then need to fuse down the...
Thinking about it the fridge definitely shouldnt be connected directly to that switch if the switch is fed from an RFC as there is no fuse present to protect the appliance flex.
Have you oulled the fridge out to see how it connects? Normally a switch like that would control either a socket or a connection plate behind the applience or in an adjacent cupboard.
If it is actually wired directly into that switch then yes you could change it for a single socket. However...
2.5mm T&E is protected with a 32A MCB on radials from RFCs so as you say, short circuit protection is covered and overload is not possible from the 2 fixed loads.
What I would be considering, is if the internal wiring of the oven is suitibly protected by the 32A MCB and/or any internal...
Whilst it is worth teaching people to turn off all equipment at the end of the day, it wouldnt hurt to have a main isolator to be sure everything is off when leaving.
Are power tools used in this workshop? If so, it could be worth installing a latching contactor with start/stop and e-stops...
I have just installed a nest in my owm house with a very similar wiring set up. Isnthe programmer near the wiring centre? If so you can install the heat link in place of the programmer. You can also install the nest thermostat in place of the existing, and feed it 12v down the exosting cable...
Hi,
There are loads of led fixtures out there to replace flourescents. Search for 6ft LED batton and you will find them. (Here is one example https://www.screwfix.com/p/lap-twin-led-batten-60w-5600lm-5ft/7223v)
You can also get replacement tubes for flourescent fittings but the internal wiring...
Do you already have the appliences? Catering equipment involving heaters will draw a lot of power, so a battery will probaly not be suitable for the grill and coffee machine. If you have the specs for the kit you have, we can advise further.
As others have said, look for someone with specialist...
