UK EICR Done, New CU Required. Am I being taken for a ride?

It looks like most of the items given 'lim' on this report are things that you couldn't confirm visually in a house to give a tick anyway and look pretty similar to the limitations used where I work- do other people agree or disagree?

    Can I recycle cable insulation?

What one did you get and do you think it's worth the time stripping the insulation?

Does anyone still use connector block..?

I always use wagos or if it's for a permanent joint, push fit crimps- handy for when cables are cut too short or break behind a socket outlet or fcu and you can't get to it with rachet crimps!

    100 mA RCD

I thought you don't have to have a 100mA RCD on TT if you have dual 30mA RCD consumer unit or full RCBO board? I've only ever seen an upfront RCD on older TT installs that don't have RCD protection in the consumer unit. If I'm right, are there any cases where you would still want to install an...

    AM2 ring fault-finding headache

The ring yes, the fault finding bay is wired the same as the install you have to do so, DB to socket 1, then to FCU, then to socket 2, then back to DB. What I mean is, if you've split the neutrals at the FCU then one leg at the FCU to one leg at the DB will have continuity, the other will be...

    AM2 ring fault-finding headache

On the AM2 the ring only has 3 points and all are close enough to the DB to test from any point to another. DB-socket1-FCU-socket2-DB You only have one fault at a time so if you know rn-rn is open, you can disconnect neutrals at say FCU as you know that is the middle, and test each leg at DB to...

    3 week wonder training newbie

He’s almost there then! If he’s already got the level 3 and can financially take the risk then there’s lots of agency work up here! I’m in Liverpool- I got an improver position for a housing trust through an agency about 8-9months ago and I’ve just been taken on with a 12month contract. I want...

    3 week wonder training newbie

Paul- if your son/daughter doesn’t mind training for 2-3years they can get full gold card requirements for JIB without doing short courses. A lot of colleges offer 2365 level 2 and 3 as evening courses (two evenings a week)- one year for level 2 (less than £2000 in most places and paid in...

    Trainees, Show Us Your Installs

Hi Richard, I’ve read a lot of your replies in other forum posts and value your feedback. You’ve made some good points, thankyou. In the morning we’re going back to test so I’ll try to make a few changes. I’ll see if I can remove the strain on the tails leaving the isolator, I’ll re-arrange...

    Trainees, Show Us Your Installs

Hi, this is my first post although I’ve been using the forums since I started training 18months ago. I’m an adult learner at night school and almost finished my Level 2. A few weeks ago I started a job as an electrical improver with a housing trust and today did my first ever board change...
