3 way sockets for electrical plugs

A saving of only 10W for 11 hours a day, every day, saves 40kWh a year. Ok not a bank breaker but not negligible either. I agree it isn’t practical to switch off appliances with clocks, and this now includes TV sets with built in recorders, (if you use your TV to record). AV amps and sound...

    Water Distiller Keeps Shorting

Worrying for the safety of the OP that he may not know how to trace a basic short. My guess is that the connections of the new element were assumed incorrectly to be the same as the original and what would be a common (assume neutral although labelled L2 in diagram above) connection has been...

    Multimeter testing - help

You just tested if it works properly, evidently it doesn't if it measures a different voltage just by reversing the polarity. I assume you repeated the test? Change the internal batteries then try testing a different (new) battery and maybe try a new set of test leads, however you can't check if...

Connect 25 AA batteries in parallel and series

. I should have added that only the first kWh would cost that, you could then recharge them but I'll leave someone else to work out how much it would drop to per kWh if you got 500 charge cycles out of the cells!

Connect 25 AA batteries in parallel and series

It is neither recommended nor good electronics practice to connect AA batteries in parallel, if one cell goes low resistance it will drain the others (unless you use a diode on the output of each cell which in the case of AA's isn't practical as the forward voltage drop on the diode will be too...

    Weird electrics

I don't believe in coincidences, my bet is you have disturbed a connector. If there was no water involved, either above or below then retrace your steps. It is possible that a control module has failed, but more likely there is a cracked/dry joint within one of the modules and you have disturbed...
