Furious - 15 weeks and counting for warranties from Segen

I've had enough of Segen as well, we have been waiting for a refund on a non delivered item since April. Numerous emails, phone calls and still no refund. I have been negotiating prices with our friendly local independent electrical wholesaler recently and will be moving the majority of my...

    Asked to reveal profit margin!!

@SRE Nobody has ever questioned our prices or asked for a discount, even after looking around the web for module/inverter prices. We are running a profitable business and expected to add a fair margin to material costs.

Am I on the right course?

The ecoskies course is fine and the eco certificate is legitimate and recognised.

    Man Days?

There is at least a day's paperwork for each installation, more than one a week would not be possible as there is only 2 of us.

    Asked to reveal profit margin!!

We always provide a priced bill of materials when quoting, including our labour charge. I don't see why this should be a problem and is in line with REAL assurance consumer code. A priced list of materials does not reveal your margin as the customer does not know how much you pay for materials.

    Man Days?

4 man days on site, sometimes more if the internal cable run is awkward. This is based on one spark & one fitter.

    Roof construction query

We always use A2 stainless screws, these are supplied by Hilti along with their pitched roof mounting system. We do pre-drill these into the rafters despite Hilti stating that this not necessary. Bear in mind that the system needs to stay fixed to the roof for the life of the system. BZP would...

    Kit prices

Taking into account the number of hours needed to achieve MCS £20K is probably about right (depending on how much you charge yourself out at). I thought this figure seemed way over the top when I started at the beginning of the year. I can honestly say that I have never in my life worked so many...

Completely agree, I'd really like to attend this but simply cannot afford to.

    Attention All Solar PV Installers.

Early evening seems like a sensible time to conduct this. I think it is a good thing that REAL have agreed to do this and don't understand why it be necessary to exclude non REAL members.

Sanyo HIT Panels: anyone have practical experience?

Whilst we usually recommend Sanyo over other panels I'm struggling to justify using them when roof area is not an issue. The much less expensive 235W Samsung modules claim NOCT output of 188W compared to Sanyo HIT235 at 182W. Am I missing something here?

    Suntech Black Pearl

We were considering offering Suntech as a 'budget' alternative, seeing these pictures has out me off now. How on earth would you explain this appearance to a customer?

    Final Payment

FiT application forms are available for download from the chosen energy provider. I can recommend EON as their FiT customer services team provide an excellent service and the form is the most straightforward to complete.

    i phone apps

I use Solmetric occasionally for it's skyline scan. Another one to look at is Sunseeker, the pro version gives you the option to view the path of the sun through the camera. Both apps are useful and well worth the money.

    Quotatis job leeds

Personally I'd avoid lead generators who force feed you leads. There are generators around where you can pick your leads when you need them, this works better for our business as we don't always want leads.

Generation meter position for multiple inverter installs.

That makes sense, you then have a single isolator for the generator. Thanks.
