Thoughts on an EICR on this board prior to physical testing.

I'm not worried about the power going off when testing as can reset it ok within a minute or so. It's just looking at the installation should there be any kind of electrical fault - even a fire this could cause the RCCB to trip and prevent access via the the gate so I'd tend to not want the Fire...

Thoughts on an EICR on this board prior to physical testing.

Opinions on this Crabtree TP 10 way board? Got to test this next week after a quick recce on a clients site yesterday. Although probably electrically safe the RCCB is feeding everything including another board Fed via an SWA and some external services also in armoured to. Thing that bothers me...

    'Piggy backing' tails

I wonder if he did it "live"? Or is the Fuse seal broken? How is it fed into the Board with a proper Tail gland?

    Interesting talk with DNO engineer

There's normally an Isolator at the top of our Local equipment and then a Block Terminal on a Din rail. So I never cut the seal to measure the ZE, just wanted others opinions as my colleague was insistent we should cut the seal and remove the fuse! I measure it from the block terminal as the...

    Electrician gloves.

I use Red or Orange Traffi gloves for General Testing and have a pair of Dewalt fingerless for domestic work when knocking out plaster/brickwork. Helps grip bolsters better.

    Work experience

Best bet is to go to some local electrical wholesalers and offer you services for their customers or write to some local electricians and ask.

    Incorrect SWA glanding/bonding

That's incredibly poor workmanship section 526 Electrical connections RCD is a requirement too since it is highly likely to be used outdoors too 411.3.3 Where is that "Earth" attached to the Armour going?

    Street light joint problems?

Surely If the Earth and Neutral are reversed then the RCBO will trip immediately the power switches via the photocell as effectively only current flowing in the Line and Not back through the Neutral so there would be an imbalance straight away. Does anyone do a Cert? Recording R1+R2 values? I...

    Grid switches for kitchen appliances

4mm Surely this will make the Grid busier by having thicker conductors, am I missing something obvious? I normally just use 2.5 bent into size to "pre-wire" it before putting the grid into position.?

    18th Edition Training

Have you 16th or 17th edition already? I did a three day course with Trade skills for you in 2017 and all it was good for was to pass the exam. More of a refresh type course and explaining how to look and where to look to pass the exam rather than a real learning course as such.
