    Conduit back boxes 16mm knockouts

Thanks anyway. It's a more modern style box attached by bush & coupler, would still say it's about 20 years old at least though.

    Conduit back boxes 16mm knockouts

Conduit is the cpc yeah. ?? There's really not much hope of adapting it, to get under the floor is a no go as she's put down laminated flooring over hatch!! There's no play in the conduit either, must be saddled underneath. Boxes? If so would you be willing to sell them?

    Conduit back boxes 16mm knockouts

Don't suppose anybody knows where I can source some 2 gang metal back boxes that are compatible with the old steel conduit systems? Basically need to change a 1 gang to a 2 gang but local wholesalers can't seem to locate anything. The old conduit is about 16mm diameter so knockouts need to fit this.

    Wood burner-detector required?

Thanks for replies. Smoke detector seems to be the general consensus so will go for that. Worst case scenario is it gets triggered off easily in which case I'll swap for a heat detector. Thanks.

    Wood burner-detector required?

What detector should be fitted in a room with a wood burner? I know a Carbon Monoxide detector is required but what should be installed out of a smoke detector or heat detector?

Is a Carbon Monoxide CO Detector needed?

Obviously these are needed in properties with fuel burning appliance but is there a need for them if the boiler is external? I've one plumber who always insists on installing them regardless if the boiler is inside or outside & one that says there's no need. Me personally would install one but...

    Gas service bonding.

Whilst looking over a job for someone as a favour I was asked something which I wasn't to sure about, I'm sure the good folk from here can clear it up. There's a local shop that has gas heating in it, the gas meter is located in a shed a few metres away from the shop. There is no 10mm earth at...

Where's best to buy these online? When I say best I of course mean cheapest! Ha! Some places were wanting over £50 for them!

More happy for my sanity! Couldn't understand it at all & thought the chances of it being two faulty RCD's were extremely low.

Guys, problem solved...two faulty RCD's! I don't usually use Proteus but that's all the local CEF stocks for RCD shower units, I'm hoping now they'll take in a better brand. I normally only use Wylex.

100%, no doubt whatsoever, it's only two connections, I know I can be dozey sometimes but not that dozey! It's got me puzzled that's for sure! Plastic. Possibly somewhere in that bombsite of a van yeah! Wasn't keen on trying it tonight as used last 100A fuse!

Can't remember exactly, thin it was 0.26 ohms. Yeah that's the plan first thing in the morning! Phoned one of my other mates whos a very experienced sparky, he's off the opinion it must be two faulty RCD's. It's the only explanation I cn think of but if I got put another RCD switch in tomorrow...

It can't be the circuit as it's been tested as far as the shower switch & was clear. Shower switch has been off each time the RCD was turned on as well.

Proteus. The first RCD was par of the RCD shower unit, the second one was a single replacement so although it's still Proteus it's slightly different looking. Proteu, 63A RCD. Afraid I've not got any photos. Everythings wired correctly, you can't go wrong, live & neutral into the top of the...

    One of those days.

Installed an RCD shower unit today, was just a case of moving existing cable from old fuse board to the unit...we'll at least that's all it was supposed to be. Basically there's two meter tails coming from top of main fuse board switch & the Earth from Earth bar in main board down to the RCD...

The system is not working as per the drawing though so someone suggested to temporarily connect it the way it is & it now works. I've traced each cable from the junction box & it is definitely been connected correctly. One valve, mid valve. The wiring is connected as the drawing. It can't be...

Aunties heating is playing up, when she switches on the heating it's not firing up the boiler. Hot water switched on it's doing as it should & firing up the boiler. Had a brief look at it in the passing & when the heating is turned on there's 240v going to stat, returning from stat to valve...
