Bootlace ferrules French or German colours

As Lee says, stick to one or the other! I have to dig through red and blacks for 1.5mm bootlace when I'm looking for 1.00mm! At the end of day the the conductor will be identified by other means.

    Advice regarding inrush current please?

Might be worth getting the trusty clamp meter out and see what current is being pulled when switched on as an indication.

Question for those who have done 2396

What's the project out of interest? Mine was a modest community centre when I sat it in 2016!

    PLC Courses...............................

Completed a Siemens course this year Hi Chris, I recently completed a Siemens based course (Mechatronics) It has been very useful in my line of work. Programming and Design is another dimension. I suggest you build on experience, Robs advice of buying a couple of 2nd hand units and software is...

18th Edition Training Course - Online with Offline Final Exam

Surely it is the IET you need to direct this at?! Course providers only provide a means to carry out the updaes. Don' t fancy 3 days of class room myself just hoping to take the test when up to speed.

C&G 2396, is this a worthwhile course? Alternatives?

Definitely worth doing. Tough exam but can be done. Stick to the C&G one as not sure about EAL!

    PLC for a beginner

I have a stack of notes on PLC programming. Only ventured into the world of PLC last year. Took a Siemens course which was intense. Also use Mitsubishi FX and Q series. Prefer Mitsubishi to be honest! Software is expensive and Siemens is the more expensive of the two.

Anyone got experience in Maintenance on Stairlifts?

Normally if a PCB is knackered it is replaced from my point of view. Unless you are proficient with diagnosing, selecting and soldering the correct components like capacitors, psu, bridge rectifiers etc. The chances of doing this in someones house with workshop like equipment is unlikely.

Can they not introduce that captcha thing where you have to enter the numbers / letters to post / proceed? Or ban Chinese text!

    Three phase socket query

I would get the spec of the client to see what's need in black and white. Redundancy to me is that if one should fail the 2nd should kick in. Is this an Atex certified skid?

Would you replace a 25 year old fire alarm panel if still working?

Sounds like the 'service engineer' is on commission. If only the equipment of today would last 25 years instead of the tatt that is about.

    Swa Banjo?

Looks like they stripped the cable with their teeth as well :D

    Swa Banjo?

I would imagine the old gear would be Ex d flameproof whereas most new stop buttons I see are Hybrid Ex de and plastic housings. They are not cheap for what they are.

    Swa Banjo?

6mm is the norm for all Petro-chemical sites, hope they used copper tube lugs rather than the crappy yellow lugs the fail in no time!

2396 style question, 2400, short circuit, RCBO,

The centre said it was because it could be 'programmed', even though if offered to let her default the calculator. Toughest exam I have sat, glad to say overcame that hurdle. C&G are as much use as a motorbike ashtray tbh!
