They won't be wired in series as they would be very dim if they were.

Do portable hand held MR-16 lamps exist?

MR16 lamps, i.e. multifaceted reflector 16 eights of an inch in diameter. So much variety of bases and voltages, i.e. GU5.3, GU10, ses and 12v, 24v, 120v, 240v. How can a portable lamp cater for all these permutations?

    Use for 1.5mm shaver wire

Depending on where the idiot was when plunged into darkness. I've already mention a foot through the loft floor for instance.

    Use for 1.5mm shaver wire

Why does that mean there is a "need" for a socket from the lighting circuit? It needs a socket from the ring or 16a radial. There is no reason why aerial installers cannot choose boosters with power supplies that are not wall worts and changing the plug.

    Use for 1.5mm shaver wire

So the IET caved in to warehouse installers who wanted to operate a dangerous practice instead of using the correct plug and socket such as a BS546 5amp one. My faith in the IET has just gone down several notches.

    Use for 1.5mm shaver wire

Don't know who Winston and banalsheds are but I have already explained that I know it is allowed and that it is a reg that is so wrong and why. To quote a term “engineering judgement”, use it and you will understand why it is so wrong. @westword10. One amendment of the 16th Ed removed BS1363...

    Use for 1.5mm shaver wire

The worst that can happen is the someone thinks what idiot put a 3a fuse in a FCU feeding a 13a socket and replaces it with a 13a one and then plugs in his equipment causing a blackout/

    Use for 1.5mm shaver wire

Putting a 13A socket on a lighting circuit is one of the regs that is so wrong. Particularly in a loft where plugging in a large load such as a cleaner will trip the lighting circuit plunging your loft into darkness. If it is not boarded the next problem is your foot through the ceiling. Labels...

How can I safely use a German coffee machine in the UK?

What you are saying applies when you have a 13 amp plug that you want to adapt to a European socket, the other way round to what we have here.

How can I safely use a German coffee machine in the UK?

The USA uses earthed sockets, though they will accept 2 pin plugs. http://www.plugsocketmuseum.nl/NorthAm1.html

    60s lamp overheating

I guess you are right. I would still use the old plug anyway for something of my own. No one would ever know.
