Quickie for a $1000
A boss said to his secretary I want to have SEX with you I will make it very fast. I'll throw $1000 on the floor, by the time you bend down to pick it I'll be done.
She thought for a moment then called her boyfriend and told him the story. Her boyfriend then said to her, do...
Hi
I am trying to get rid of my Fluke Multimeter 1652c. Checked for the going price on ebay but need to know how much it's really worth now. Any suggestion would be much appreciated.
Thanks!
Hi,
I need to replace broken light switches of the type shown on the picture. Can someone tell me where I can get them from. Inquired at the local electrical shop and searched online in vain. Thanks in advance.
Hi,
Could anyone shed some light or point me in the right direction for the following:
I am using my family car for business (what percentage of the value of the car and expenses that go with it, would I be able to show as expenses?)
I am using my home as business premises (Can I include...
Hi,
Water and electrics don't go together but what about the setup as below? It's a tiny one bedroom flat and the landlord doesn't bother about safety of the tenants, all he wants is the rent on every calender month.
Yes, I can see some section but not that visible under the metal boxes embedded in the wall. I am sure, the steel conduit should be responsible for such a nice Zs values.
Been to a flat to test prior to changing the consumer unit. Two rings and two light circuits but none of them has an earth cable, just phase and neutral but Zs at the sockets are good. It’s a TNS system with Ze of 0.26 ohms. How do I go about finding R1+R2 for the rings in this situation? Thanks!

Speak to NICEIC, ELECSA, Napit etc
The requirement to do PIR is being competent. If you are subscribed to an approved competence scheme in order to be able to complete and certify notifiable works without paying the local building control to inspect and test the work (Building Regs), you don't necessarily have to be registered...
Hi,
Rang the DNO on their emergency line and said that the main earth is non existent in a property as the Ze at the board was 32.8 ohms on that TNS system. The woman at the other end said, “fine, we will come and convert it into a PME but it will take 8 to 10 weeks as it’s not classified as...
This thread induced me to explore the PME system in details and here is an abstract that I lifted off from a website:
The great virtue of the PME system is that neutral is bonded to earth so that a phase to earth fault is automatically a phase to...
Not as easy as that, I am afraid. You have to register yourself with one of these bodies; Elecsa, Napit, NICEIC etc under their "competent person" scheme in order for you to sign off your work. Best of luck.
I agree that REG only stipulates use of electrical equipment in the right zone but my concern was someone getting a shock with wet fingers, should the switch developed a fault at some point.
