NICEIC Certification Scheme filing a complaint with NICEIC - is it worth the bother?

White cable doesn't signify age, I install miles of white twin, it's called low smoke and fume cable and is a superior cable to grey twin and earth. How do you know the kitchen fitter didn't damage the insulation moving the fuse board? He shouldn't have been in there in the first place and...

    Max demand for Caravan site

I spent 5 years working solely on caravan parks, a 200a 3 phase supply is more than adequate for a 50 van site. we used to work on final distribution of 8 vans per 63a fuse but very often on larger older sites there would be 15 vans on a 63a fuse with no problems. these guys may be able to help...

Red arrow led emergency combined disco fitting

To be honest mate I can't quite grasp how you're planning on wiring this. Are all fittings emergencys? In a 3hr emergency light test the lights need to be running on solely the battery for the duration to prove the batter is holding sufficient charge to last the required duration. The lights...

    Checking a borrowed neutral

I'd love a house full of singles but we live in a modern world and I think I'd prefer twins ;)

    Checking a borrowed neutral

Yeah crystal clear, I had it in my head, just needed a bit of confirmation on proving the fault, before powering the board up, which I had done but wasn't confident in myself. One thing I have learned is that things are so much clearer once it's drawn down on paper. Both lights have been put on...

    Checking a borrowed neutral

The niceic company I work for, why are you trying to turn this into a witch hunt? If you look at my profile you will see I've been registered on this forum for 5 or 6 years, maybe not as an active poster but diy ers don't tend to hang around for that long do they

    Checking a borrowed neutral

This is where you are wrong, I however spend most of my time in factory's and served my time on large underground private networks, so if you could keep your incorrect assumptions to yourself that would be great

    Checking a borrowed neutral

I work for a medium sized company. Haven't done a massive amount of domestic work on older peopertys. Is a forum not for asking questions and learning, if not what is the point of a forum, we can't all know everything but we can all be willing to learn, do you never ask a question on something...

    Checking a borrowed neutral

So what's the test method to prove a borrowed neutral? My tests prove that the neutral of the 1st floor isn't separate from the ground floor circuit, i.e the landing light has its live from the ground floor circuit and its neutral from the 1st floor circuit

Tested at 250v ins res between the neutral of the 1st floor lights and the neutral of the ground floor lights. Result was 0.04meg ohm. Flick switch for landing light and the reading...
