    Cable plasticiser reacting with copper.

Here are a couple more photos showing the three light fittings affected by the green goo. They clearly show the difference between the dry and the wet type of greening. The fittings affected by wet goo do not test out satisfactory. Appreciate your help and any more comments. Hope this will be...

    Cable plasticiser reacting with copper.

I will post up some more photographs if I can to-morrow out of 3 ceiling fittings 2 are liquid goo and one is dry very different to look at the dry one was not exposed to the vapour all other light fittings in the house were clearly rewired later on as fitted with the normal earth sleeving

    Cable plasticiser reacting with copper.

Thanks folks Green goo it is then only evident on the fittings with the solid green earth sleeving No chance that is going to test out OK. some of it is not much more viscous than water .

    Cable plasticiser reacting with copper.

Could these instances possibly relate to someone using certain types of vaping fluid in the vincinity of the ceiling light fixtures. Twin and earth wire used so wiring cannot be that old. Substance found can be absorbed into kitchen tissue - viscous green liquid, tacky to the touch.

    PV shading

Thanks Is it raising the string voltage that triggers the bypass diodes into functioning ? that is the only way the inverter can have any influence on the bypass diodes as far as I can see. Correct me if I am wrong but I believe there are a number of bypass diodes within each panel each...

    PV shading

Thanks Gavin A Read that several times not fully understanding it . I got the impression that the OptiTrac raised the string voltages which increased the possibility of panel diodes disconnecting shaded cells . Also watched some u-tube clips which explained just how good it was but not...

    PV shading

Gavin A wrote re mitigate shading Use of SMA optitrac global peak / ABB full scan shading function or similar together with orientating the panels correctly for the shading enables the bypass diodes to operate correctly to bypass shaded areas of the panels, so that the shading impact is...

Storage - The Way Forward ?

Gavin could you be a little more specific please Victron are claiming " VRLA GEL: design life 12 years VRLA GEL 2 Volt cells: design life 20 years " Do they lose capacity dramatically over the years. It is not like we are talking of a high start load I am at present looking at...

Storage - The Way Forward ?

Sharpner I know I live further north and probably have a smaller system than you. I have looked at my recent records and unlike you November was my least productive month Here are my Winter figures _____________________Oct__ Nov__ Dec__ Jan ___Feb ____Mar...

Storage - The Way Forward ?

Would you not use the 7p off peak rate to charge the battery on the 150 or more days when generation was insufficient to bring them back to a safe level of charge . I know prediction of production is not easy with English weather . But being grid connected means that there should be no need...

Solar immersion device capable of running 6kW immersion

Since Posting I have come across a 3 phase Diversion Device . No knowledge about it apart from what I have read . http://www.mk2pvrouter.co.uk/61101.html But @ Solar City as your requirement is for powering a single phase immersion element I am sure it is not going to help at all...

Looking to monitor 3phase over 2 systems

Have you tried Aurora Communicator ? It will not tell you anything about your imports but it will show you most aspects of your P V production and reveal just how much it fluctuates second by second during the day and varies over the week. Something I do not think most people appreciate ...

Solar immersion device capable of running 6kW immersion

Hi I was not aware that they were limited to 13 amps but that would be logical to avoid stressing the components . I can only speak in relation to my I2 Intelligent Immersion model that I have. If it would help I can modify my wiring to accommodate a clamp meter and measure to see if it...

Solar immersion device capable of running 6kW immersion

Are there 3 phase diversion devices ? All the ones I have come accross have been single phase . When they are switched to diversion load I do not think it matters what the load is . as it is only the surplus PV output that is being diverted I have frequently had a 5 kw load on my I2...
