Hi all,
I have installed a lot of Immersun controllers, but now see so many other ones on the market like Solarimmersion
What do you think of the various products out there and have you fitted alternatives to Immersun??

Some a carp, some are ok, some I wouldn't touch with your barge pole, we do install a couple of other brands

We would recommend:
Immersun
Elios4you
Apollo Gem

I'm sure GavinA can add to that list.

go on then, we've installed quite a lot of Iboosts, and as yet haven't had a single failure, and they're so easy to install with the wireless ct clamp, look good, have an ok display that shows what's happening, and can be installed in the airing cupboard due to the wireless unit.

Think they use phase angle, so not as good as Immersun 2 or Elios power reducer for the flicker regs compliance, but haven't had any issues with it, and are significantly better than Immersun 1 on that score.

Remember guys that the iboost may seem simple but it doesn't tell you if there is a problem so the customer carries on assuming all is well until their bill arrives....

I have used an Apollo Gem for 18 months, absolutely faultless, no flickering just does the job. Wireless option works fine.
I use it with a top mounted bespoke dual immersion with a long and short element, feeds top element and then switches to bottom one.
Means I get usable hot water from the start and then whole tank.

Apollo Gem installed. Very impressed. Price is right. Quality is right. None of you have mentioned changing the standard immersion element? If the element is not all the way to to bottom of the cylinder or there are not 2 (at top and bottom of the cylinder) it is not full of hot water. Top can be 70c+ and bottom only 30c. For solar you need to store everything you can. Destrat pump or longer element is a must or you are not achieving maximum savings on a standard cylinder.

Hi solarfred
see my post above, I got a bespoke dual element immersion built which does the top half first and then the bottom element which reaches to the bottom does that half, works a treat with no need for destrat etc
