i have a spare 10mm cable under my kitchen cabinets which i ran in ages ago intending to use it for power outside, however i changed my mind and used 16mm instead. so was thinking of putting all appliances on 10mm radial with fcu's.
can anyone think why this would be a bad idea ?
cheers
Trying to replace a single run, approx 3M with no bends, of a single 1.5mm twin & earth cable between 2 lighting points in a domestic space. Cable to be mounted IN the ceiling & plastered over. Both points to carry an LED light fitting so minimal current. Is it safe to use 10mm conduit? BS7671...
Hi All,
I am making a annex in a old workshop about 35 metres away from the main fuse board.
It will have a water heater for a shower and sink and then just a few sockets for a kettle etc.
Would a 6mm cable be sufficient and what size shower rating would I need?
Thanks for any advice.
Switch will be in stud wall; cable currently running horizontally....looks like I may need to pull some slack through to run cables through top and bottom of backbox...or strip back sheath and bring through back of plastic box using a 25mm grommet. The 45A switch wiil be in a kitchen for an...
So there I am trying to get to sleep at 2am this morning when a thought popped into my head. (I'm one exciting person to be with :tearsofjoy:) Not that I am thinking of doing it, ever done it or seen it done, I will still ask the question as otherwise I will be up again all night trying to work...
I'm reading a thread at the moment about a 9.8kW shower that has been installed on a 6mm cable. My natural instinct was to think that's wrong, it should be on a 10mm. Most of us would fit a 10mm cable and believe that to be to the right choice but if the reference method is C then the 6mm has a...
I don't think I've ever come across a cooker that needs 10mm but I may err on the side of caution with this one.
Rangemaster Leckford deluxe 110cm induction range cooker.
14.8kW, states required a 45A supply.
No info on cable size.
With diversity a 6mm will be ok. Plus ref method C gives a ccc...
I will be fitting a henly block to split the meter tails. I'll be taking some tails 1-2m a new shower consumer unit (63A RCD and 45AMCB) with no spare ways to fit extra MCB's. I'm not sure what the cutout fuse size is.
I was planning on using 16mm tails but would 10mm tails be acceptable...
I have read this previous thread (2012):
gas and water bond, can i use 1 x 10mm cable? - https://www.electriciansforums.co.uk/threads/gas-and-water-bond-can-i-use-1-x-10mm-cable.66838/
I have a situation where the gas and water enter the building parallel to each other. The gas meter is some 3...
Anyone know where I can get earth, and blue sleeve to go over 10mm insulated cable or even the size I need I have shrinky stuff but jeez it aint aint easy not melting stuff, yeah I know should have done it before I stuffed it into the cu but I have done 3 sub boards at one end before the penny...
I’ve done some labouring support work for sparks in the past (joiner by trade) and have a qualified spark installing an electric shower for me. To save him time I’m going to run the cable. Using 10mm. Walls and floors not easily accessible and shower is about 25m of wire from consumer unit...
Hello,
Whilst doing some building works I have access to the inside of the stud wall to which the consumer unit is fitted, so full and easy access to all the cabling there. This wall is soon to be tiled.
In the future I will want to put power into a garage at the end of the garden.
I happen...
I have a job where the client wants a 7kw car charger 50 meters away from his house. The problem is there is a 6mm that's been pre wired 10 meters through his house from the main consumer unit to an exterior wall and sealed up. So I would have to use that and join onto the 10mm exterior and put...
So I have been working on a contract installing 10.5kw showers with B40 MCB's as specified by builders but occasionally a plot reports the shower tripping when having long showers. Hager don't do a 45A MCB but do a 45A RCBO but then its the cost....£££
The cable is ran in uninsulated studwork...
Hi guys,
any advice on what size of SWA should be burried for garage? Will be aprrox 15m long. Garage will have 6A lighting circuit 20A socket circuit and 32A power socket. Idealy 2core SWA as only one phase needed. IS 6mm ok or 10mm needed?
THX.
I know there’s the adiabatic equation to work earth size but generally if you install a twin and earth cable for distribution, do you need to worry about the smaller cpc size
My situation is 20 metre 10mm t and e run and not using it to provide earth bonding. Will the 4mm cpc be adequate. 50A...
Dear All
Have to terminate 2 x 10mm t&e cables in a back box and isolator switch ( for a shower )
Gone for a double 46mm box and cooker switch but can’t find a tidy way to dress the cables into the box
So. What do people do. Cut them shorter and pre bend etc or leave them longer and curl them...
Doing an outdoor installation , heavy duty , hot dipped cable tray as per spec
