Hi all,
As stated in the title, i have no experience with electrics, but i need a transfer pump to empty my 3 fish tanks, and all i can find are 12v units that connect to car batteries. There are literally none that run off mains for less than £150+

Hello guys!
Just wondering if anyone can help me...
Part of my job asks me to test the batteries in alarm panels with a 5A load and record the voltage after about 15seconds, basically to if the batteries any good.
I'm either looking where I can buy one and what it's called as I can't find...
Hi,
I have 19 12V downlights in my living room that I am thinking of changing to 240V LEDs (out of the Kosnic range from CPC, already put the 6w flood ones in instead of halogen in the existing GU10 holders in my kitchen and am impressed!).
I currently have the Tamlite Starlite range of 50w...
Hi all,
I'm looking at installing a 12v socket that is fed from an ignition live, rather than the original socket which is a constant live.
What's the best way to do this?
I've read that the only way to do this, without cutting into original cabling, is to get an "add a circuit" piggy back...
Hello all,
I am new to the forum and am searching for some help and advice for an electrical challenge on my house boat.
I currently have to run my engine to power the oven (it runs off 240V circuit) and want to wire the oven into my 12V circuit to save time, fuel and my sanity. I have an...
Hi guys, this feels like a bit of a "simple simon" question and despite having fitted hundreds of down lights, don't think I've done this before...
Customer changed existing 12v MR16 lamps for MR 4.5w leds. Didn't change the transformers though and is suffering from the leds flickering when on...
Hi there.
I own a 1985 VW T25 Autosleeper and am based in Manchester.
The 12v system works perfectly, with a new 90ah leisure battery and split charging system recently fitted.
My problem is that when I hookup on 240v some of the 12v appliances stop working, but the internal plug sockets...
Hiya!
A friend has 27 12V downlights in his kitchen/dining area and wants to change them for LED to save on his electricity bill. I've not had any experience of these lamps and was wondering whether anyone on here could answer 2 questions, the first being, are they any good? In terms of light...
Hi.
Has anyone ever inspected 12v electrics in a dwelling i.e a beach hut / cabin or similar? Basically the electrics are all run off a 12v leisure battery. There is a small solar panel that tops up a battery for a 12v fridge. The beach hut can be slept in so apparently needs an electrical...
New here so I say hello.
Some advice on car 12v please.
I want to fit a dual volt and amp meter in my dash, and have one with the appropriate shunt. My expectations are, when the engine is off it will show the state of the battery. When the engine is on it will show the active volts and...
Hi
Built a sliding door wardrobe and want to finish it off by having a 3 metre strip of RGB leds along the top edge of track to shine down on the glass doors. Is it safe / ok to NOT use the power adapter the light came with (laptop type supply) and instead have them powered from a 12v LED...
Hi,
I have a spotlight rail with four MR16 bulbs (12v) on it. It has an integrated transformer.
The replacement needs to be of similar size i.e. length approx 90cm and run with low-voltage MR16 bulbs.
There seems to be a plethora of these spotlight rails that use GU10 240v bulbs etc, but I...
Hello all....
I have recently been asked to put in 9 LED 230V downlights, which I have done.. all working fine. The reason was the old 12V halogens only had 2 of the 9 working and the customer said everytime she replaced a bulb they would either not work at all or only last a few days/weeks...
Hi all
Was asked to fit two transformers for shop window display.
there was 8 12V down lighters in total split into two circuits and both switched through a timer,

I've just noticed an odd problem.
I have 2x 12v downlighters in a small room.
On the same circuit, in my living room there are 12x 12v downlighters connected to two dimmable transformers.
The attached load is well within the limits of both the transformers and the dimmer switches that control...
Hi All,
I'm hoping for some advice on a confusing subject! I have just changed all my down lights in my bathroom as the old ones were rusty and not working due to the transformers being faulty. The old lights were bog standard with no face or anything to protect from splashes (even above...
