Hi,
First post on this forum so please excuse my lack of knowledge.
I have a 12v 300watt water heater /hand wash with fold down bowl (type fitted to some work vans etc) that I thought about fitting to my caravan.
Here comes the lack of knowledge,
1. If I connected it to the 12v in the...
Afternoon,
Is there any reason why I cant use a 240v designed post light (with E27 GLS bulb holder) to be wired into a 12v transformed external lighting circuit (obviously with a 12v bulb of suitable wattage)? I can't think of a reason why not.....
Firstly, hi, Lavrentiu here, live in sunny Cyprus where thankfully we have the same wiring/setup as UK which is a good thing
I moved to a new place few days ago, this flat has some groovy halogen spotlights by the entrance door but unfortunately none worked. After buying a few new lamps...
Hi all.
Been asked to fit some decking lights, customer has bought 20 of the from ebay.
0.75 flex, three core.
Initially i thought these were 230v, but upon connecting 12v across live and neutral they light.
Are these just 12v but wired in flex with a LNE?
Cheers.
Hi
Does anyone know a way this can can be done
I want to wire some usb sockets up the same type you can find in cars, up to a fused connection unit how do I go about doing this.
I know I will need a transformer of some sort but what's the best way to go about this.
I know some people...
Hi all,
Am not completely sure on this, Recently purchased some low power consuming devices which came with USA AC adapters as in the picture. Can I use a simple pin type adapter or would I need a step down transformer? Can I use a UK adapter with 12V output? Thanks!
I am gradually replacing filament & halogen bulbs with LED versions. Whilst some LED lamps work okay with standard 12V transformers, the transformers don't like low current devices, resulting in flickering. Since the idea is to save money and energy, I don't really want to outlay large sums of...
Hi
I currently have halogen lights 3 x 20w on a 12v Transformer Power 65W and I want to change them over to LED lights but I have to use the existing transformer as I'm unable to get to them to take them out and use the mains to change them over to GU10. So my question is what is the best way...
Hi, I'm interested in this lamp which has a 12V AC filament bulb. It sits in a MR16 fitting, so I was thinking: If I power it with 12V DC instead of 12V AC, and replace the light bulb by a 12V DC LED bulb, it should work.
Would it work? Would it be safe?
Hi
I've recently fitted 2no 12v led small strip lights to the back of my van for extra light when its dark.
I wired them into my exiting internal light so they come on when i open the door and off when i close...
I have a problem with the lights though as when they go off they constantly...
Hi there,
for a friend's boat, he has constant access to 240v shore power (and a galvanic isolator), but still wants batteries for whenever shore power stops working, or if he wants to go and cruise for a day or two. He needs a charger to keep the batteries topped up, and an inverter for...
Does anybody here have issues with changing 12V lamps to GU10 LED lamps in the same fitting?
Obviously involves taking out the transformer, changing the lamp holder and putting the fitting back.
I only ask because:
a) The tin cans usually have a label that says 12V
b) The tin cans are not...
Hi people, just wondering the best way to install these 12v transformers, are there any regs requiring a fire hood or cover over them as I can imagine they get warm? I've installed fire rated down lights which sit in the loft space and was worrying about the insulation near the transformers I...
I'm looking for someone to shed some light regarding domestic work and bathrooms,
I'm newly qualified spark but my apprenteship was completed on industrial sites so domestic is a new area for me, iv read up on the onsite guides and regs but would like some advice from people that work in...
been buying some new led products from this company (merkko led) and they use 12v down lights and many people have been asking if they will work on the boats caravans etc .iv seen people using boosters to help regulate the leds but is this needed?
Do many of you choose to install 12v downlights instead of mains ones?
I was thinking that doing away with the problem of the transformers failing. I still see reasonably new installations with 12v downlights.
Hi,
I just purchased a 12V 10" electric fan from Supercheap. Brand is Calibre Calibre Thermo Fan - 12 Volt, 10" - Supercheap Auto Australia.
On the box it states max current draw is 7.5A and it came with a 10A fuse. I connected the fan up as per the instructions and it keeps blowing the 10A...
An intriguing job offer has come up. The customer wants to build an off grid toilet/wash block for a campsite
Solar panels powering leisure batteries to provide lighting (and not much else). We're not using an inverter anywhere in the system so no 240V
The electrical side of things I'm ok with...
Hi,
where re can I get a 12v 4 Pole NC contactor capable of day 50A or more...?
i can't seem to find one, the alternative is can I pull a contactor on with 230v that's closing or opening 12v circuits? Seems wrong to mix ELV with LV.
I need to replace some 12v outdoor PIR`s formerly made by Smiths, then Timeguard. The CODE is SL099 easily found on Google. However, they are nowhere to be had as they have been discontinued.
They send a signal to the mains control box (CODE SL055) which controls up to 3000W of lighting and...
