Hi guys read plenty of things on these forums and now have a problem to post...
Fitted a fan heater to a spur in a bathroom today. The spur is on 16A breaker and appears to be a radial. Fitted and switched on at DB and spur but no luck.
When i tested the spur I had 240v between line and earth...
Hello All, i am trying to buy a 12 DC cable for my camping fridge but i cant seem to find one with the style of socket the fridge has. I was hoping someone might recognise it? It is an old fridge so perhaps this socket is out dated? It is for a 12V DC cigarette lighter cable.
Many thanks
Harry
I recently bought a 12V Whale Gulper 220 waste water pump to remove water from a shower on the groundfloor of my house in Germany (no way to gravity empty the bath/shower.)
I am after advice on if I have the correct 240V AC to 12V DC transformer.
The pump is a diapragm pump and the instructions...
Hi There.
I've got a customer who has commerical track-lighting in her kitchen. One of the fittings has gone and I'm having trouble finding a supplier to get a new one. One told me it's discontinued.
The fitting brand and model is: 12V 50W Concord:marlin 2028566 MK60 QT12. It's for 230-240V...
I was checking polarity using multimeter on some 12v DC adaptors I have.
Doing this showed me the voltage. Here on my readings:
12V DC 200ma = 19V
12V DC 500ma = 16V
12V DC 1000ma = 14V
Question 1): Why are they not showing 12V? Is this because all happen to be unregulated?
Question 2): Why...
Hey so I have a 300W inverter and a 24ah 12v battery. This works to run and charge my laptop for a couple of hours, however after a while the laptop stops charging but I can still charge my phone off the USB that the inverter comes with.
Can someone explain why this might happen, does the...
Hi
A mate of mine wants me to change all his 12v downlights to 240v gu10 led's there are quite a few.He has bought the lamps and the gu10 lampholders
My plan is to just do away with the 12v transformer and wire the gu10 holder in the jb.
None of his downlights are fire rated/no hoods having...
Hello all,
I am looking to install an xpelair 12v fan in a bathroom with a humidity sensor (model no. 92970AW). I can't quite work out from the instruction manual whether the humidity sensor is in the fan itself or in the transformer. due to the size of the bathroom and the position of the bath...
I am installing a C/U and the kitchen has some old Down lights installed with 10 x 12 volt transformers connected. I know I could disconnect all the transformers but I don't plan to do that as it will be a real pain due to how the plasterboard has been bodged. Some opinions suggest the IR...

I need to put an exterior grade switch with a timer, to switch a 12v AC solenoid which is fail-secure- so it needs a momentary voltage to open the gate.
All the electronic switches I am finding are 12v DC- but I need AC. I can't just use an ordinary push to make as I need a timer, so the...
Hi, just joined to get the definitive answer to this conundrum.
The parking speaker in my car is really quiet, so I bought a 12v DC buzzer from Maplin to replace it. The Maplin buzzer doesn't work when connected to the car, but works if powered direct fom the battery.
The voltage at the...

Hi all, first of all sincere apologies for the lack of experience and inappropriate use of symbols! I'm putting together a remote mobile broadband station for use at events that can take a mains supply (transformed to 12v DC) or leisure battery.
I've obtained a 12V switching relay which works...
Hello all, this is my first post so please don't grill me too soon ;)
So I've finally got mains in my shed after a few years of using 12v lighting and rolling the extension lead out when required. For a year or two, I have been running 6 x 4.5w LED clusters as main lights using a pair of 12v...

Hi all
I wonder if you guys can help me and point me in the right direction, we are after a 12V Proximity sensor that is waterproof to put on the back of a truck, when a solid item gets within the sensors range we want it to trigger a Light/LED, I know how to wire it up but struggling to find...
Hi,
I've got a simple downlighter installation which comprises 2 halogen bulbs mounted inside the wooden surround of a decorative fire place.
There is a simple one/off rocker switch (semi hidden) so that the lights can be turned on or off.
So, I have a transformer which supplies the 12v to the...

Hi,
First post on this forum so please excuse my lack of knowledge.
I have a 12v 300watt water heater /hand wash with fold down bowl (type fitted to some work vans etc) that I thought about fitting to my caravan.
Here comes the lack of knowledge,
1. If I connected it to the 12v in the...
Afternoon,
Is there any reason why I cant use a 240v designed post light (with E27 GLS bulb holder) to be wired into a 12v transformed external lighting circuit (obviously with a 12v bulb of suitable wattage)? I can't think of a reason why not.....

Firstly, hi, Lavrentiu here, live in sunny Cyprus where thankfully we have the same wiring/setup as UK which is a good thing
I moved to a new place few days ago, this flat has some groovy halogen spotlights by the entrance door but unfortunately none worked. After buying a few new lamps...
Hi all.
Been asked to fit some decking lights, customer has bought 20 of the from ebay.
0.75 flex, three core.
Initially i thought these were 230v, but upon connecting 12v across live and neutral they light.
Are these just 12v but wired in flex with a LNE?
Cheers.
Hi
Does anyone know a way this can can be done
I want to wire some usb sockets up the same type you can find in cars, up to a fused connection unit how do I go about doing this.
I know I will need a transformer of some sort but what's the best way to go about this.
