On a standard hall & landing 2 way circuit (i.e both switched from either location), does everyone prefer using the 3 core method, with each light being fed by the appropriate circuit (i.e upstairs / downstairs) - are any other methods in current use?
socket ring wired in 3 core and earth - seems to be 2.5mm in old colors - the third core is blocked at each end. do sockets have to be in 2 core and earth or not? As the ring is being extended is this all going to be have to taken out.
Morning all
Other than my local TLC, nowhere seems to stock "3 core 4mm flex".
I was connecting a new cooker up yesterday, and the manufacturer recommends "3 core 4mm flex" as a minimum spec.
Now on a Sunday afternoon, not much chance of finding any of that, so I used some 6mm T&E that I...
I'm adding a outside light to an. Existing install. The lights have been wired in an rb4. Can I add my light fitting to the circuit but wire it in 3 core flex instead of 1.5 twin and earth?
I have just been on a site inspection which produced burnt out cables (Sheathing melted or burnt away), within some ground recessed fittings. I have not seen this used before and can only find reference to this cable (SY Cable) being used for Air-con, IT and food processing as a 'control' cable...

I cant find it in the regs or any of my other books, but I thought...

If for example you have an swa 3core (brown, grey, black), which , say your running to a supply from a DB board...
I dont do a lot of external works, however, I have been asked to install some power for general lighting and powerto an outbuilding with no extraneous conductive parts 15 meters from the main board and my thoughts were;
The supply is tt, so 10mm 2 core swa from spare way in main board to CU in...
