Low insulation readings on kiln - at what point is acceptable?

Hi guys I was asked by a customer to have a look at a kiln which had failed its PAT test. There's low L-E and N-E insulation readings on the element itself (several coils inside daisy chained together). Readings were about 0.25MOhm so way too high to actually be in contact with the chassis...

    Is this acceptable?

Hi Everyone. Im a first year apprentice and would like some opinions please. I know that lighting is normally wired in 1.5mm and sockets wired in 2.5mm. However, our shed at home has a 1.5mm SWA wired to our small shed for a light. Would one double or even single socket be able to be wired...

    Acceptable spur length from fcu

Putting a final ring in kitchen and will have a fcu on the ring for the cooker hood. I want to then run from fcu up wall to a flex plate. Due a window above the fcu I can't run straight up and it also wouldn't be where the outlet needs to be. I can run down from the fcu, under the floor...

    Perfect PIR

Just wondering if anyone has ever come across a perfect PIR? Nearly had one today, but a busbar point without a rubber topping stopped it. All tests where fine though, and that and no rubber gromits in some back boxes. So not a major deal.

2.5mm and 4mm in same ring - acceptable?

As per the title. And if so, what would you put on the schedule of test results? (One end of the ring is 2.5mm and the other 4mm - so it is obvious at the CCU). I am assuming it is 4mm. It is old colours (black and red) and the conductors are stranded so I'm thinking it's not 2.5mm. The...

Hi , Im looking at doing a rewire on a small 3-bed semi. Im pretty much upon the current regs e.t.c. and am aware of the need to prevent complete loss of lighting (i.e upstairs and downstairs) in the event of an RCD tripping e.t.c However as apparantly there is a need to protect all cabling...
