Has anyone come across an RCBO with no earth fly lead?
It was in a new commercial installation and installed on a merlin gerin pan assembly
How long have these been out, any ideas?
Check out the photos and can anyone say what make it is ...
I bought an old Craftsman table saw (circa 1982) a couple months back and today the motor stopped turning, instead it started just sitting there making an electrical buzz. I've got it apart and all the connections and stuff looked good, so I broke out the multimeter and measured the input...

After numerous jobs having to go along and rectify very sub standard work its started to get me thinking. The more common things i come across is poor labelling at dist boards, Cables not sized right, inadequate protection jobs half finished. I recently came across a 13amp double socket wired in...

Visited a property today that has an intermittent earth fault. RCD trips sometimes 3 times a week sometimes once a month but it's been going on for some time now and owner wants it sorted.
IR'ed across N/E and L/E and all ok until the boiler is switched into circuit. Then the L/E values dip to...
I'm on a job - full rewire - where the cooker control switch unit it mounted on the side of a window opening. (On the side of the opening at 90 degrees to the window pane and wall beside it, if you see what i mean).
The thing is ... I can't see any way of keeping the control switch there and...
We have come across an installation with only two core cable supplying both switches, the earth is not used and only common and l1 are used on both switches. Can anybody supply a diagram of the wiring of such a system?

What will happen if we use a voltmeter to measure current in a circuit. I mean if we connect our voltmeter leads at different points on current carraying wire/coil?

Re-wiring a house at the moment and the loft insulation is 60 cm thick fibreglass laid on the original fibreglass insulation which turns into powder when touched.
Cant see the joists and the light and switch access holes are in the centre of the loft space.
Normally i would clip cable to joists...
have a look what i came across to day [/ATTACH] the spark had no spare ways at the main board so this is his way off getting round the problem a bit mad i think
How is this a balanced circuit with no current in the common/neutral wire?
The book I am reading states:
If R1 and R2 were not in the circuit, there would be no current in the common wire and the load on each side of the common wire would be the same, or as we say, the load would be "balanced"...

I have a travel adapter that has blown a fuse due to using a hairdryer in Cuba.
I need to replace it. The original has a 2.5amp ceramic fuse in it. Can I put a glass type in or does it have to be ceramic? What are the differences between the two?

Working on Memera 2000 AD CU (not the Memera 2000)
want to convert B32 MCB to an RCBO.
Believe MEM Eaton (who manufacture Memera ) do a 'Pod' called
the MR30 which just 'clips' on top of MCB any one used this before.
Have received conflicting info off MEM web site as to whether
this only works...
