Hi all need some advice please got a 16mm twin earth submain in block of flats to flat 1 coming off a 60 amp dp isolator so main earth is 6mm water and gas is bonded to flats met via 6mm what code would I use for eicr? Or should I do the adiabatic calculation first to see if it compiles
Good evening everyone,
I'm doing 04A1 practical assessment at the moment, and I'm confused with adiabatic equation. It seems easy when tutor is around, but when you're trying to sort it out on your own, a lot of questions appears) I would really appreciate if you could help me out.
Here is one...
Am I right In assuming that as long as you have worked out the fault current from a zr that meets regs for the breaker you can just use the disconnection time of 0.4 etc instead of using the graphs which I can never seem to understand
When doing the adiabatic calculation for cpc on a circuit greater than 32 amps, do you specify 0.4 or 5 seconds on the trip time?
So my situation would be 40A MCB no RCD 230V and Zs of 0.33 ohms
Kind regards,
Chris
Evening All,
I have an industrial install this week, installing 200A feeds to MCCB panels in workshop, with 70mm SWA
Im just working out the CPC at the DB, not done this for a while so just wanted to check it..
S= root(I2 X T) / K
The fuses are BS88-2 200A, i have another DB in exactly the...
Does anyone know the Microsoft Excel 2010 formula entry to achieve the adiabatic equation?
Where, for example cell A1 is the prospective fault current, cell A2 is the disconnection time, cell A3 is the k factor and cell A5 is the resultant minimum c.p.c size?
Thanks
Spud
Hi guys,
I have brain freeze and need some help!
I'm currently looking to run in a radial socket outlet circuit to a bedroom from a spare way in the consumer unit. The total circuit length will be approx 10 meters of 2.5 t&e. The supply is a TNC-S arrangement with a Ze of 0.13ohm (by direct...
I'm doing a mod for a 3 phase circuit already installed. The only trouble is I can't work out why the existing cables are as they are so i am doubting my sums.
Existing final circuit.
3 pole memshield 2, D32 rated feeding 10mm2 4 core swa with a seperate 16mm2 G/Y as cpc.
Measurements at the DB...
Hi
I should know the answer to this but i don't!
to find I for the adiabatic equation, which is the preferred option:
the example given by someone on this site says 230/Zs where Zs is found using Zs=Ze + (R1+R2)
the example in my book (BS7671 learning guide NICEIC) says 230/max earth loop...
Right guys.
Adiabatic equation, I want to work out if the swa armourings are adequate enough for the circuit, now it's a sub main feed from main Db, do I use the maximum fault current from origin or pfc at sub board, also do I use the protective protecting sub board.
Look forward to your answers
Hi all, I am new to this forum so apologies if this topic has been covered before!
Basically, I have been asked to test a commercial installation that is approx 2 years old however the original electrical contractor have gone bust. On reviewing the certificates I noticed that while 95% of the...
When plotting your PEFC against the times for your protective device in appendix 3 and your trying to work out an exact time, is it better to round it off to the nearest higher time frame?....As this will give you a slightly higher csa when working out your min acceptable size, which is better...
Anybody got their books handy, and feel like giving the old grey matter a work out?
Just finished a EICR on a school
200A TPN TNS system
Main conductors 95mm
Earth conductor 50mm
Bonding conductors 16mm
ZE-0.13
PEFC-1.78KA
PFC-3.56KA
is the bonding up to spec?, looks like its ok, but its...
Evening all,
I have a question regarding calculation of CPC on a 16mm T+E and wondered if you could help at all.
I have done a board change and the supply is via a 16mm T+E. It appears the CPC is 6mm and therefore I did the adiabatic equation to confirm if the CPC is adequate.
The circuit is...
Any ideas on this one?
I am doing a survey/eicr on an intake serving 9 flats belonging to a local housing authority. The cables are early 70's 16mm/6mm T&E run through the building structure. I have assumed the maximum draw is around 30A per flat and checking the Ze values and distance it...
Hello all..
I have read some of the threads on the 'adiabatic equation' and still cannot understand it!
I have my assessor turning up on thursday to view my CU change, I have gone through everything with a fine tooth comb and am trying to cover everything he may find fault with. My ring main...
