Hi Everyone,
What are your thoughts on adding a different make of battery back up mains powered smoke alarm?. The quick back story is that there are 2 BRK (I think) interlinked alarms fitted in a property and that particular make are now discontinued. Building control now want an extra one...
Prompted by the other thread....
I had a slight dilemma on this topic a couple of days ago. Three mains smoke alarm bases, on their own circuit, but no detectors on them. The circuit breaker was off when I arrived. Also couldn't get an R2 reading on that circuit as it either wasn't looped...
like most i have a glut of EICRs to get through, finding lots of properties with out of date hard wired smoke alarms but they are testing and functioning so i am C3 them, properties without is a C2. when ever i rewire i always install smokes, heat alarm and a carbon monoxide if there is gas in...
Hello, my apologies if this is in the wrong section but my question is regarding fire alarms and smoke alarms testing intervals. My question is the testing of grade d testing intervals, I normally give 6 months but the client asked for a 12 month certificate. The properties are hmo. Can a 12...
What is the situation regards different brands of smoke alarms on the same circuit.
Got a house with AICO downstairs and Kidde upstairs all sharing the same interconnect wire on the one circuit.
Is this against manufacturers instructions and whilst they may all sound if activated is it by fluke...
Scotland gov rules are that alarms can be 10 year sealed battery powered or mains powered while building regs seem to insist on mains powered.
Are the regs changing to allow 10 year sealed battery powered alarms to be acceptable in England?
Today I got a flyer in the post which stood out from the usual crap - from Aico telling me how my home must have interlinked alarms from Feb 2021.
And this got me wondering, I don't think I know anyone with such a system. OK I have not been in many other hoses for most of 2020 for obvious...
Can a disabled toilet alarm pull cord be linked with another pull cord in the same room?
So when either one is used it alerts the same way on the central board?
Morning Gentlemen
Question we are replacing a consumer unit for a landlord and he's been advised by another company to fit
EI164RC smoke alarms and the wireless bases, but I've been told these are being discontinued so we are fitting the AICO EI3024 MULTI-SENSOR FIRE ALARM with the smartlink...
I am in the process of getting my house rewired and I forget to think about adding smoke alarms and a burglar alarm. As the house is getting a total redecoration then it would be worthwhile to do it now.
I have been on the Aico website but it all seems a bit confusing - radio linked, audo...
I’ve been asked to inspect a bunch of small Hmo LD2 smoke alarm systems by a landlord which certificates are best for this?(I am a 1 man band mainly domestic installer )any advice would’ve appreciated ,thanks
hey guys
I've moved into a new property and want to put a wireless alarm in. Ive been looking at the pyronix enforcer. Whats your thoughts on these? I quite like the idea of being able to use the app aswell as adding wireless cameras
Thanks
Afternoon all,
Ive looked at the building regs but can't seem to find anything, i remember reading something that said when fitting smoke alarms off a lighting circuit you need to put some form of isolation in, is that correct?
I'm also looking to install nest alarms, do they all need to be...
Morning all :)
I hope this question isn't too basic...I think I'm sure but thought it would be wise to check.
I've fitted a couple of fire alarms that are wired, one at the top of the stairs one at the bottom.
First one I fit was downstairs, all was fine.
When I fitted the upstairs one the...
I set up on my own beginning of 2019, doing mainly commercial and industrial work.
But I’m wanting to branch out to the domestic market as well.
I am wanting to mainly install CCTV and Intruder Alarms.
From looking at a few threads, everyone is saying Hikvision and Texecom are my best bet for...
I am fitting a heat detector in a new kitchen. The rest of the house has battery smoke detectors.
I have quoted to update all smoke detectors to mains powered and radio linked. However, is it only my new work that has to comply? In other words do I have to update all other alarms?
I guess my...
I have just been to look at a job were the builder has started the first fix as I was unable to be there. He has forgotten to put in a cable to the heat detector in the kitchen, partly my responsibility as I should have reminded him more fully.
My plan is to have it radio linked to the hallway...
Am I correct in thinking under the 18th edition for a new build property an AFDD is compulsory or is this not the case if risk assessed? I am still yet to complete my 18th ed. Also for new build properties is it still ok to hard wire smoke and fire detectors off lighting circuits under 18th...
