Looking for some advice from the experts out there
Im currently rewiring a new kitchen and I have wired a 10mm T&E to the position of the new oven microwave combo but it will be integrated into cupboard leaving me no wall space for the cooker switch
So basicially has anyone came across this...
We've got a few quotes out at the moment where the returns are pretty impressive, our prices and margins are so low they really aren't worth doing at current demand levels but still not much interest in them, one looks like going ahead but there's so little enthusiasm out there.
Anyone finding...
Hey guys, started my apprenticeship back in may and i am getting a makita for my xmas and was looking at what HSS bits were best? I only do industrial work so mainly trunking, conduit and uni strut for drilling into. I've had a look around but cant seem to decide on anything. The guys at work...
Hi peeps, just rewired a warehouse and had the simply genius idea of running an extra socket (spured off of one of the only circuits with an RCD in the entire building, of course) for the in-house technician to test faulty returns sent back by their customers. And naturally, one of the main...
Hi,
With reference to the main incoming supplies on mainly 3 phase and the requirement to fill in the Type of supply & the fuse rating for the supply, sometimes together with the Main switch details - I often have dificulty with these as the majority of times the supply cable and incoming fuses...
Hi all, has anyone fitted a garage board in a recessed meter box when installing pv when there havent been any spare ways? I've heard people say you shouldn't do this.
My 1653 has suddenly started giving inaccurate results when testing rcds. On a ramp test, it indicates that its giving 33mA and not tripping the RCD, but another tester the same RCD is tripping at 24mA, which is about normal for a 30mA. Fluke are quoting a fixed repair cost of £216 + VAT, to...
This is a mate's 'fuse board' they asked me to come and look at. Now I fixed a couple of hall lights but anything involving anything on that board - WAY out my depth yet, wouldn't want to try a whole rewire anywhere myself, let alone on this.
It all seems functional - and I'm assuming most...

Mine has just arrived today and currently sat on charge.
My thoughts are that it's got to be better than the BlackBerry Curve that I've been using for the last 18 months.
I did a forum search to see if anything had been posted about this bit of kit and couldn't find anything so I'll share my...

The pic shows feeds to a socket and light fitting in a kitchen,I replaced the original wiring and spent hours trying to find another cable route without success. It looks like the kitchen has been extended at some point and the remaining concrete lintel is stopping anything but limmited access...
Just goes to show you that assumption is the mother of all cock ups and a potential death.
I am quite ---- about isolation, I always test conductors even if the power is off, borrowed Neutrals and all that. Yesterday I made an assumption, and it could have landed me in a box. This was the...
I was at a customer's last week and he asked me to repair some SWA that had been attacked with a spade. The trouble being that is loads of the stuff running round his garden, just sitting on the ground. Some can be either buried properly or lifted onto a fence or wall but there is one section...
Hi all, I have been asked to perform an EICR on a 7 floor office IT based company, each floor approximately 2,500square feet and three phase supply. Looks reasonably new office so doubt there will be many extras in remedial, I'm guessing they have some expensive IT kit and they may need an EICR...

My nokia used to show a small symbol which told me i was recieving a diverted call.

Hi guys,
I am doing my self assessment for the first time. I am strugling a bit with what I can claim back. I have called HMRC regarding wich courses I can claim back and they said that I can not claim back expenses for any courses that made me an electrician. Only the further courses that...
Was doing a cu change yesterday and as usual the old board had no circuit identification at all. After an hour or so of moving lots of junk about I managed to get 7 of the 8 circuits but there's one 2.5 t+e cable off a 16a mcb that I just can't figure out what it does, if it does anything at...
