Did an EICR today and found that 2 weeks ago a fairly well know heater company removed a number of storage heaters and then replaced some of the DP switches with 13A sockets to plug their heaters into, plus a couple for general use!

Hi All,
Just about the look at a job to price. I have been informed that the extension will serve as a second house for family members so they want a separate CU fed from the existing one. Not a problem after calcs (demand / diversity etc), but I am concerned about RCD from existing CU taking...
Been testing today on a new installation, it was a lighting circuit all lighting weird via click roses. Came to the rcbo test, trips on 5x at 100ms then says plus 40 on 5x. Quickly swapped out rcbo thinking it was just faulty and does same again with the new one. Some rooting around in loft i...

As the title, anyone here got experience of leaving jobs part way through?
I've a client we've been doing some major work for that is pi$$ing me right off. Making all sorts of unreasonable demands and is now saying that the work he's been really happy with up to now is a load of crap and has...
Clutching at straws here methinks but I promised a client I'd do my best.
Scenario is a stable block being knocked down and rebuilt with the existing supply definately not being replaced. The client has asked if a shower head on a long hose is possible so that horses and dogs can be washed down...
Hi all,
My generator is only putting out about 50v when I start it up. After revving it for a bit it puts out 100v, but obviously still not enough for my 110v drills. It's quite old but don't really want to get rid of it. Anyone able to help with what's wrong with it?
TIA

Hello
I am a qualified electrician with level 3 2330, and 17th edition wiring regulations qualifications. I do not possess 2391.
I no longer work full time as an electrician and am curious as to whether I am able to advertise and carry out any work myself, despite not having 2391 and being...

Evening all,
About 6/7/8?? months ago I was called to see a elderly client (who I had previously done one or two small jobs for) who's electric awning would not open. It turned out to be the battery in the remote control!! I had to make 2 journeys out to him and buy the 'odd' battery off the...
Hi guys,
As above really, am an Approved contractor with the NICEIC and am looking to add ECA approval for commercial work.
Reasoning behind this is I do a lot of church work. They specify ECA or NIC. Thinking if I'm approved by both it would be in my favour.
They do a deemed to satisfy...

Hi people
I have been asked to have a look at a house where another firm has put a pump shower 3A and an immersion 3kW on plug tops.
Now having looked at the regs I am of 2 minds... I personally do not like immersions being on plug tops as they don't like being loading for such long periods of...

Is it me or is this growth in wind farms just ridiculous?
Doesn't this country have enough wind of its own without wasting electricity making more of it by running these big fans? Its a blatant Tory waste of the tax payers money ......
