Hi,
I have just started retraining as an electrician and am starting my Level 2 EAL course in September. In the meantime I want to develop my skills as much as I can, however there are a lot of skills to develop.
What I want to know is, what skill would a Electrician most appreciate if they...
Hey guys... Just about to sign up to a new scheme ... And was wandering who to go with ... NICEIC being the favourite for many reasons but also the most expensive ... Has anyone got any recommendations regards other schemes .. thanks
Hope you're all having a good weekend! :)
I am having a lazy day playing in front of the laptop nursing a bruised rib from boxing :anguished:?, so... I'm going to treat myself to a new makita 5aH battery as all I have are 3aH.
Best price I can find is £49.99 + £4.98 (all inc VAT) from...
As title suggests, I want to look at mapping out exactly what the wiring is doing in our home.
I've got a tone & probe and fuse finder, just wondering from the more experienced here, what the best way to go about it is?
Some should be straightforward; kitchen and bedroom circuits but lighting...
Hello guys,
I'm currently working in the UK as a Electrical Maintenance engineer in the food industry. Me and my partner are talking about a move to Australia or New Zealand and there seems to be plenty of jobs when I've looked but I'm not sure where to start.
I'm only BTEC level 3 qualified...
Hi all. I have a couple of jobs coming up that I will need a helper to help out with - general electrical stuff like pulling cables, cutting channels, drilling holes, stuff like that. Where is a good place to advertise? And what is the going rate for a jobbing sparky (eg NVQ level 2) or similar...
Hi All,
We've moved into a new build property and our bathroom, which has glossy white with a hint of grey speckle Porclenosa tiles, is looking a bit dull which I believe is the result of the downlighters. We have 3 x 7.9W, 38 degrees, 3000K downlighters in the bathroom and they seem to be...
How do you feel when a dog dies and you love it?
We have a dog named Yuki who is our most beloved dog in over 7 years. But on October 8th 2018 I left home for my friend's birthday. But she was weak before I left. Then when I got home she was gone and she seems to be fighting over the illness...
Attended enrollment yesterday and I'm now "official" (6 days to term start), We're advised to get a scientific calculator so was wondering; those that have done the course, what calc would you recommend?

As the title says, what's the best way of doing this?
I got a good set of GCSES (2A*s, 10As and 2Bs) however I do not think that I will be able to go to uni. Instead learning a trade is a more likely option. I have decided to go to being an electrician and will probably apply for something...
Opinions appreciated on this one.
Garden in approximately a square, 20 metres pr side
The board is under the stairs and I'll run a 6aRCD protected feed behind the units to the rear wall and into the garden; everything outside in Schneider boxes filled with Ray Tech Gel

hi all,
My house is a typical 1930s semi. Seems that the partition walls between each room are stud walls. There is only one single socket in each bedroom which is clearly not ideal therefore i want to add more. The upstairs sockets are fed off a 4mm radial so I am thinking of ripping it out...
Moved into 60's semi and had work done to renew kitchen, including new induction hob, cooker etc.
3 qualified electricians came to quote and each mentioned that someone had bypassed one of the RCDs (?) in the main box (Branded GET/Schupa), so that circuits to the right of the attached photo are...

Had a tricky job this afternoon. 5 metre run of 20mm flexible conduit running through stud wall then 90' bend. Really struggled getting any of my mighty rods through (splintered 2 of them)
What's the best method? Is there a specific attachment for rods?
Just wondering where others are purchasing their solar PV gear...panels, inverters, mounting kits etc? I’ve got a run of it coming up and looking to supply the gear as I’ve been having dramas with stock and deliveries atm. TIA Lee
Hi,
I am a keen DIYer (dangerous phrase - I know) but will NOT be doing this work myself and will be getting a local sparky (Part P etc) in. However I'd like some advice as I want to check its the best way of doing things.
I have a Tenby split load Consumer Unit (circa 2005) in the Garage with...
