Hi. I have a question about MICC/PYRO cable.
I have only very rarely worked with this type of cable , I've mostly worked in domestic wiring.
However the other day a friend asked me to change a faulty single socket for him, ( piece of cake). It didn't turn out to be !!!
He lived in a flat built...

I'm hoping to get a bit of expert advice on a problem I have with a friend's wiring. Initially I was asked to take a look at a three-bulb light fitting that was regularly blowing bulbs. I took the fitting down from the ceiling to check for loose wires and found that several came out from the...
I was using my pressure washer with the extension lead still rolled up on the reel. It obviously got hot and blew the fuse in the extension lead. Which I have changed and is now working fine.
But now the jet washer won't work and I have changed the fuse several times, it buzzes on for a second...
Fitted my parents a little 10w LED PIR light over the front door to help them see the steps.
took a fuse spur from a ring socket with a 3A fuse. 2.5 T+E from socket to switch, 1.5 T+E from switch to JB.
it worked fine for about 5 mins then turned off. I thought it was the settings so played...

My mate says his mr16 50w halogen lamps are constantly blowing. Said he buys them from home bargains which I reckon it's probably the issue. Have suggested replacing them with some mr16 led lamps to see how it goes. Thing is will these pull enough on the transformer to work? Not sure what...
I've got a situation where a property keeps blowing bulbs, as in they need to be replaced every couple of weeks. I measure 248v, could that be the problem? Could the problem be external to the property? Apparently the flat above has the same problem.
What possible solution could there be? I've...

Evening all,
A while ago I started a thread about 11 halogen lamps blowing fairly often.
Over the course of the last few months the problem seemed to improve after I found 2 junction boxes that were pretty leaky and sealed them. The problem now seems to be as bad as ever with one blowing...
Hi,
I just purchased a 12V 10" electric fan from Supercheap. Brand is Calibre Calibre Thermo Fan - 12 Volt, 10" - Supercheap Auto Australia.
On the box it states max current draw is 7.5A and it came with a 10A fuse. I connected the fan up as per the instructions and it keeps blowing the 10A...
Hi,
I had an Omnicron alarm panel for about 20 years that died on me in March.
I searched for a replacement and came up with a Veritas 8 which looked like it would be a straight swap with my original cabled etc.
Bought it and fitted it at the beginning of April complete with a new strobe box...
have been asked us to look at installing a different fuse as the 13A plug top keeps blowing when they try to start the Motor, its a very small bench compressor.
He seems to think it requires a fuse to allow the inrush of current, but the plate of the motor states its only 1500W so should this...
I have a feeling I may be horribly confused and need someone to set me straight...
As stated a fuse will blow at twice the rated value so a 5A fuse could potentially blow at 10A. However when using a fuse as a means of protection, you obviously want the fuse to blow to in order to prevent...

Hi,
I spent ages trying to figure out why the heating does not work, I read the manual, referred to the fuse box under the steering wheel and checked each fuse until I found that both fuses for the heating had blown 15amp. I went to Halfords and bought replacements.
I put them in and they...
