Hi All,
Having a new kitchen and the Mrs wants a socket on the back end of the island, does anyone have any back box suggestions?
The socket will back onto a cupboard so I want to avoid a drywall back box due to it not being very sturdy.
I would appreciate your suggestions. Thanks

I am looking for an waterproof surface box with a clear window in it to be able to mount a check meter into it so that it can be read from outside without having to remove the lid.I have seen something similar on caravan parks where the caravan hooks up to the supply but cannot seem to find any...
Evening all. I have to supply a garage conversion with a 16mm armoured running 40 meters away from the main house. I was thinking about coming off the Henley blocks (in the meter cupboard) into a TIME DELAYED RCD board, with a 63 amp Mcb, then glanding the 16mm armoured into the board. I was...
Anyone used them wagobox capsules for swa Cables?
I’ve got an external lighting job with semi hidden joints wanted and the capsule top flush with the grass.
I have some up and down lights to install either side of a front door. The only possible supply I can take is from the light just passed the door inside the hallway.
The light installed is like below. I plan to fix a JB on the cieling, pick up a feed from the downstairs lighting circuit and...
Hey all! I'm trying to install a smart switch to control my 3 outdoor lights. 2 wall lights and a lamp in the yard. The house was built in 53, so I assumed there wouldn't be a neutral in the box, so I picked up a GE switch that doesn't require one. The switch shares a box with another that...
Hello all,
I am trying to install three new light fixtures (hanging lantern type) that will hang from the ceiling of an outdoor covered porch.
The fixtures come with a cross bar that has preinstalled mounting screws with the threads pointing downwards. These threads are intended to go...
Brought the sheath of SWA inside the wiska and used 60a connector block to maintain continuity of armour using stuffing glands
Really effective for eliminating leaks, only used it for garden lighting
Imo superior to swa gland for water ingress (if you cant fix the box to an upright surface)...
Hi all,
Waiting for a bashing here, but it's something I haven't had to do until now so looking for advice on the best way to approach this.
I've been asked to replace a consumer unit for a customer but the existing meter box is recessed in the exterior wall - not uncommon I know, but not...
I recently purchased a used clothes dryer, it came with 4 prong cord. Rather than change the cord, I figured it would be better to upgrade the outlet from 3 prong socket, since the existing wiring includes all 4 wires. Bought new outlet, and was dismayed to discover that the width of plastic...
a customer of ours has requested for us to install 2 sockets into the side of there kitchen cupboards.
This will result in the back box being exposed inside of the cupboard. Is there anyway I can protect this with some kind of cover?
About to start a electrical in my basement, and need to do the rough in for potlights. The lights I'm using have an integrated junction box, and so there won't be a junction box to put in place until I'm at the drywall phase.
So what's expected for the wiring during rough in phase, as there's...
As part of my spec I said that I wanted 35mm back boxes. The walls have been taken back to the brick and will be dot and dabbed with plasterboard and then skim finished.
Electrician said that he can just screw the backbox onto the wall without digging into the brick because onces its dotted and...
How do I get rid of this "Dismiss" and this stupid orange box at the bottom of the screen. I find too many adverts show on my phone when I access this site and I'm posting this from my laptop as its a pain to access this forum via my iphone. Therefore I had to wait until I got home to access...
Hi all, so I'm having a difficult time sitting this generator out. Genny is fine, two legs of 120 and 240 across. Here's my issue, I'm assuming this buck box is a voltage regulator so as not to fry my inverter/charger but the power coming out of it is 98/140, 240 across. I'm not qualified to go...
Please the pic of my fuse box and guide how can I change the first floor fuse in this old fuse box. Note the fuse is not the pull out one. Also if you see in the pic it seems it comes out by unscrewing all the adjacent fuse which does not seem right?
Experts please guide.
