Hi all,
I am currently installing emergency lighting in a pub and was wondering if i am right in thinking that escape route signs/lights need to be maintained emergency lights as opposed to non-maintained lights.
I would be grateful for any help with this matter.
Thanks in advance
Dan
Hello all
I am new to this site and i am glad i have found it as it looks crammed with useful advice from people in the know.
I am not too familiar with how forums and posts work and i hope i have not made a mistake by uploading this, so please excuse my ignorance in advance if i have offended...
This is a vague one at the moment which needs further investigation (before anyone says it, the installation is securely isolated while we complete the work!).
We supply valves, actuators and loggers for water treatment sites. We're recommissioning an old logger which is situated a fair way...
I came a high PFC in a domestic installation a few weeks ago and the consensus on the forum was that it was ok because the main fuse was rated at 33KA so the mcbs (rated at 6KA) would be ok.
Came across similar situation in factory. A PIR had been carried out by another company and I was asked...
I am working for a company that has loads of bus bar running around the factory. They have asked me to supply some new bus bar tap off boxes ,but I am unable to find anything to fit. The bus bar is English Electric CO.LTD. It looks like it was fitted in the 60's or 70's. Does anyone have any...
Hey guys,
I'm looking at a job just now and im a little unsure about the main bonding of incoming services. At the moment it's a large industrial unit and the plan is to make 11 smaller units that will be rented out. Each will have it's own 3ph board supplied by 40A isolator, gas meter and...
Hi allwe have got a telemecanique limit switch on a sprinkler valve to indicate a fault situation if the main valve is to be shut for any reason. The client has now asked for the intruder alarm to be linked to this valve also in order to fulfill these requirements , both parties need a clean...
Hi Everyone , i havnt fitted one of these before and i need to do so as a retrofit into and existing panel board. the reson for this is a down grade in their load and therefore i wish to fit a protective device to protect the current wiring against the new lower load. I also intend to fit a...
Can anyone advise of a good reliable supplier off star delta starters please. Local places don't do this sort of stuff and not driving miles to somewhere that will, so online is preferred.
Thanks for suggestions.
Does anyone have any experience of testing when generators are involved? All ZS readings come out too high for RCBO's that protect the circuits! any help or advice would be greatly received.
Hello to you all. I am new to these forums, and not a qualified sparky, but after your advice. I am the MD of a company that has moved to a new industrial unit, well part of a unit. The unit is 22k sq ft, and has about 6 CU spread around the walls. We are letting around 10k sq ft, and have 1 of...
Hi All.
I'm finally getting to start the installation that i'd asked advice on in October. However there have been some changes i've had to make i may or may not be on the right track.
The plan was to put in an 8 way cu (sub main) with 6 RCBOs' to divide up a computer suite, 25 PCs', data...
Hi
This is probably a basic question but I have just wired in a large radial arm drill for a customer all working except the slurry lubrication pump. It has a 3 phase motor but only has 3 leads coming from the windings can someone explain how to go about testing this please.
I have done an IR...
Whilst converting an old factory into offices to let, I've been asked to remove a redundant 3ph supply and meters. They are hidden away and have been 'disconnected' for about 15 years, when a new supply was provided. I vaguely remember the DNO agreeing to disconnect and left it in their hands...

A number of 3 phase induction motors and a single phase motor are fed via a p.t.o driven generator. There is a small current imbalence between the phase feeding the single phase motor and the other 2 but this i think is acceptable. How much of a current imbalenbce in amps (A) would be deemed...
OK we’ve got nice fancy boxes of gubbins if you want to run a 3 phase motor off single phase now. I’ve just found my Brook motors electricians bible after loosing it for near 5 years. The bible was given to every industrial electrical apprentice up until the late 70’s.
There were ways to run a...
