Hi i have a homework question i am not sure about the question is (word for word)
"State the requirements of bs7671 for pfm may not permit the use of a bs 3036 semi enclosed device as a means of over current protection for this installation"
the only reason i can think of is that the breaking...
I have a query about the Standard A1 Ring Circuit.
It is my understanding that a 2.5mm2 cable is sufficient, this is because the current carrying capacity in a worse case scenario is 20A and because they are run in parallel this gives a total current carrying capacity of 40A and so a 32A MCB...
Hi all. I tested a building last week where they had used bs 3871 and also bs 4293 rcbos/mcb's. I can't seem to find the ka of these and also the max zs permitted.
Hey folks, im wiring in a shower circuit, i've decided on singles in PVC trunking (10mm line/neutral) (4mm CPC) I've worked out my cable factor in trunking as 87.2...................Problem is OSG shows smallest size trunking as 50mm X 38mm Thats way to big!!!!
Can anyone point me in the right...
righto chaps and chappesses, I'm currently devising a spreadsheet to calculate the cable size needed for various sizes of cable for use on the DC circuits of commercial jobs where the DC voltage cable be 6-800V.
The reason being that a different spark has reported that an SWA cable we'd...
6 amp BS EN 60898 .....6ka being the maximum fault current the device can handle, although the device may no longer work after that. The 3 underneath this being the fault current (ka) the device can handle without damaging it and then being able to be reset.
I have been told 2 different...
Up to 3.8 MW of electricity will be generated by three UK landfill sites following a partnership between Manchester based renewable energy specialist, ENER-G Natural Power and Hartlepool based Seneca Global Energy.
ENER-G said that for its part it will design, build, finance, operate and...
Hello,
Can anyone tell me please if you can use the figures given in BS7671 cable current carrying capacity when using 12V?
eg- so 1.5 multicore clipped direct can take 19.5A. Is this what the cable can carry for both 12V and 230V- or any other voltage?
Any help greatly appreciated!
Thanks...
Cant seem to find info anywhere for bs3871 m1 plug in wylex type b mcb. Anybody know the braking capacity??
also wylex 5a fuse wire pls
Merry christmas
In the red Osg is t&e table 6f ? Ie flat cable? I notice that table 6 e1 has two core and three core non armoured would this cover t&e or is this for flex only.
We havnt covered this in college
Thanks for any help given.
Craig.
We have a main incoming cable coming into a factory unit where I think the size is 300mm 4c. The cable head says 400. Is this the current carrying capacity of the cable or just the model number of the cable head box? I can't get a definitive answer even from Scottish Power!!!
Thanks. Hutch
I am happy with calculating current carrying capacity for straight runs of cable. I am not to sure how the imact of a ring effects the cable calcs? Its hard to see what the possible loads might be. As of this do you take the center point and use maximum demand?
So for example on a 35 meter ring...
HI Can anyone help me understand how I work out the "short circuit capacity(KA)" for Domestic Electrical Installation Certificate. Sorry struggling with this one.:blush5:
Hi,
I am looking for a bit of advice on the Regs relating to BS 3036 fuses on a ring main, as I do not agree with the comments made on a PIR.
The defect states that the conductors are too small for the protective device due to the 0.725 factor.
The circuit is wired in 2.5mm2 singles in...
I have just had a call from our EPC assessor who has had notification from his accrediting body that they are unable to accept the MCS cert as proof of size of installation (in the case of EPC being done after the install because without it the house would not get a D) because it shows the...
Can anyone tell me where I can find the breaking capacities of Crabtree BS3871 type 1 MCB's. The installation has to be 20+ years old and there are no Device designation marks on the breakers themselves :confused5:
