Hi, I'm sorry if this seems a bit of a mess.
I've got a 2005 Rover 25 that I bought a couple of years ago. It came with a Blaupunkt Freestyler Travepilot E CD-Player which I quickly replaced but at the time I noticed that there was an extra ISO plug that I couldn't plug into the new player as...
I have an installation that has an inherent earth leakage of about 15mA. The issue I have is that when I go to do an RCD test it trips due to the the additional current created by my MFT.
Question is, if this was an EICR what would you code it as and why? My take on this is that 15mA is still...
Hi. Could someone confirm weather you think I'm right or not. Today I installed a ceiling mounted suspension wire lighting track in a domestic kitchen. It's fed via a fairly chunky wire wound transformer (I don't know the kva of hand). The mcb supplying the circuit is a type b 6 amp rcbo...
Hi guys, I'm a gas fitter, not an electrician lol

I've just noticed an odd problem.
I have 2x 12v downlighters in a small room.
On the same circuit, in my living room there are 12x 12v downlighters connected to two dimmable transformers.
The attached load is well within the limits of both the transformers and the dimmer switches that control...
Hi,
I've installed two LED GU10 lamps in a customers bathroom. They're on the same circuit as two fluorescent energy saving lamps already installed in the bathroom. So far, three LED lamps have blow (I replaced the first one, and now two have blown).
Could the motors in the fluorescent lamps...
:confused5: I have been asked to wire up a couple of CU on plug tops on a display for tenants to show how to go about basic fault finding before they send for a call out .
I used 2 wylex boards , one with dual rcd and one with none .
I put a neutral earth fault but that resulted in the plug...
Hi
My ceramic hob became cracked (only 18 months old since kitchen re-fitted) so purchased an induction hob to replace it.
I took out the old one and replaced it with the new hob
Since then the electric oven (at the other side of the kitchen) seems to want to trip the fuse board. I have...
Evening all, had a nightmare day with a stupid cooker circuit. I've just joined a new firm and they sent me to a job they have done recently- kitchen refurb. Cooker circuit (40A) mcb keeps tripping every now and then, no structure to tripping. 6mm T&E coming from board extended in kitchen...
Hi all,
To keep it short and to the point, my neighbour has a PV array on a shed which goes to an inverter, then to a 20A RCBO (I think) in a small CU and then back to the main CU in the house where it goes to a Hager 40A RCCB (30mA). The 40A Hager in the house trips periodically for no reason...

Installed a 3.92kW System today. Using a 4000-TL SMA Inverter. The inverter gave a grid voltage error. After checking the input voltage it was at 255 which is definatley too high for the SMA Inverter. The house is only a few doors away from a sub station which may be causing this.
What are...

Hi All,
We have an hotpoint electrical fan oven, that is tripping the fuse box when it gets over 160 degrees, it should be able to get over 200 degrees.
I thought it may be the thermostat, but why would that cut the power to the fuse box, has anyone got any tips on what to look at first...
We have recently installed a system on a customers house that’s using a Sunny boy 4000TL and its causing the Economy 18 meter to disconnect the supply at random for a few minutes each day.
We know it’s the inverter that’s causing the interference because it only does it when the inverters...
Had a really odd problem out on a job the other day and wondered if others have encountered the same and what they did!
