Hi all my ceiling heating stopped working recently and I want it back on for the winter. I have checked the feed to the contactor which was live but was the voltage was not going through the contactor. I replaced the contactor with a similar 4 pole model but have the same issue. I have wired it...
Good Afternoon
I am moving home in the near future and want to take some of the ceiling lights we had fitted.
I am looking to cut the cost of having to pay to have them taken down so I plan to take them down and replace them with a rose pendant fitting (which it was before)
I have watched a...

I've always had A15 60w incandescent bulbs in my ceiling fan light, which looks a lot like this except not LED (https://www.homedepot.com/p/Elite-3-Light-White-Ceiling-Fan-Shades-LED-Light-Kit-LK1906/311928467). The sockets take a medium E26 base. I'm having trouble finding these bulbs locally...
I know - needs some explaining: I am improving my old house's garage wiring and need to run on the aluminum ceiling. The ceiling is aluminum as the garage is actually a covered-in carport. Anyway, I am assuming that AC90 armoured cable can be secured to the aluminum ceiling without affecting the...
Latest fun on the job from hell.
I need to replace 2 x Vortice Ariett T ceiling mounted centrifugal fans, but struggling. I could buy replacements, but only place I can find them that might get them by early next week is Amazon, and a bit steep at £80 per fan for my budget.
It's in a Barrat...
I've installed some recessed lights in my den, where previously there was just a fan with a light fixture running off a single switch.
Now there are 4 switches; 2 for the recessed lights and 2 for the fan, at different entrances to the room. But I can't seem to get them running independently...
Hi all,
I am moving a CU from next to the meter to about 1.5 meters away on an adjacent wall. Am I OK to run the meter tails through the ceiling void between the joists (plasterboard ceiling) to the new CU position or is a case of installing an isolator and 25mm swa?
Many thanks
Hi,
I have a standard single ceiling light that I wish to convert to a set of three light fittings, physically right next to each other and controlled by the same switch.
What is the correct (and preferably easiest) way to connect this up?
Kind wishes - Patrick

Which method you use to install spotlight with no access above ceiling ?
Do you make holes under joist and fish wires and then later how do you fill them? or how do you overcome this and at the same time try to respect regs?

Trying to replace a single run, approx 3M with no bends, of a single 1.5mm twin & earth cable between 2 lighting points in a domestic space. Cable to be mounted IN the ceiling & plastered over. Both points to carry an LED light fitting so minimal current. Is it safe to use 10mm conduit? BS7671...

I have this fancy ceiling tube light fitting and I cannot figure out how to replace the tubes.
It has two ends which somewhat come away but not enough to remove the tubes. There is wiring both sides.
I'm not sure how much more pressure I can apply before something breaks. There are...

Is it switch problem or LEDs needs replacement?
I'm replacing an overhead light in a kitchen. There are two bundles coming out of the ceiling. Both have a black, a white, and a ground wire. The light fixture has a black, a white, and a ground wire. What should we do with the two sets coming out of the ceiling?
DIYer question!

please can some one tell me how to wire the new fitting correctly?

I am replacing a light in my living room. When I removed the existing light fixture, I found an extra blue wire (blue, black, white, ground) provided. It's not a 3 way switch so I am assuming it was provided in case I wanted to put a ceiling fan in the room. So with a regular fixture (white...
