I install EV chargers, often under the OLEV scheme. next year all chargers subsidised by the government will have to be 'smart' we all know how the smart meter roll out is going! but it seems only a matter of time before they determine that cars can only be charged at certain times etc or must...
I have a job where the client wants a 7kw car charger 50 meters away from his house. The problem is there is a 6mm that's been pre wired 10 meters through his house from the main consumer unit to an exterior wall and sealed up. So I would have to use that and join onto the 10mm exterior and put...

Hi folks
Trying to make sense of the Regs regarding RCD types for a standard 13A socket intended for electric vehicle charging. Looking at 722.531.2.101 in the 17th edition Amd. 3, type A seems to suffice unless DC residual current is known to exceed 6mA, in which case it is type B. So how do...
I have previously worked as a field service and installation engineer (AV DATA CAT5 areas) for over 12 years, although i am currently working in IT but i am interested in a career change as a EV home charger installer, or smart meter installer.

Hi guys, I'm having trouble deciphering some manufacturer's specifications / installation instructions for a three phase dual 32A outlet EV charger.
The model in question is the W22 wall mounted unit:
I can see that there are 2x 30mA RCD's inside the unit mounted on DIN rail.
I'm unsure...

I'm considering buying a domestic 4kW PV with 6kWh of battery storage and a 5kW hybrid inverter from Sungrow.
My problem is that wife's electric car has a 7kW Podpoint charger. I assumed that the hybrid inverter would pull power from the grid when the house demand exceeds 5kW, but there's no...
