Anyone knows just by looking at the back of the multimeter whether this multimeter is supposed to make sound when checking for continuity. I have replaced the fuse on the left of the image and also has a 9V battery. It works OK but never made a sound when checking for continuity.
Hello all, first post but have enjoyed the forum for a while..
I am in Bristol and recently had an electrician do some work on my house - I want to sanity check the way this guy operated.
He did some tasks satisfactorily: Changed a room to a ring circuit, hooked up a second light switch for...
Hi all, does anyone happen to have a blank pdf for this checkbox, to keep a log of your calibration checks or have a link to where I can get a copy? Much appreciated.
Our electric bill has double within the last 6 months and the electric company are now saying the bill will be £440 a month. The electric company installed a check meter to see if the main meter was faulty. The readings comeback fine and they are now saying that it is down to our usage. We live...

I have just completed an EICR.
The lighting circuit has an earth leaving the CU, then some lights have 2 core going to them (L + N) and some twin and earth, no continuity of CPC even at the ones with an earth. There are some metal light fittings that require an earth and also metal screws in...
Good morning guys I hope your all well. Since I got the first part of my 2391 done I've been having a rest from the studying because it was at points a little bit intense doing mock after mock after mock.
Ill will soon be picking up where I left off and I will be indulging (at cost no doubt!)...
Hi guys
I recently had an electrical safety test and the electrician said he needs to replace the board because it's quite old.
The electrical board and all other electrical stuff is outside of my house in the landing. My question is, when replacing the board, does the electrician have to come...
Hi Guys, Just had an EICR test and was told it will fail , but not too bad (a couple of C2s) but needs doing. Waiting for the failure cert. to show me the total work needed, and should be here tomorrow. Is there a kind soul out there who can assist me [a retired old electrician who's quite...
I've mislaid my 13Amp plug check card from Electrical Safety First, and they aren't sending out replacements at the minute. Can anyone help? (I'm obviously happy to pay!).

Just want someone to sanity check me here; my understanding is that battery powered detectors are not permitted in the private rent sector - they're fine if you own/live in the property yourself but the minute it becomes private rent then the minimum requirement is LD3 - Mains Powered (with or...
