Hi
I have two security lights controlled by three PIRs. Recently the lights have been coming on at random throughout the night, I suspect the PIRs to be faulty. I tried (at 3am) to switch them off. There is a fused switch in a bedroom which is fed from an adjacent socket which will switch them on...
Hi All,
Firstly, I am not an electrician but, two of us are starting a electrical contracting business in a niche product area. Our newly qualified electrician is saying that if he fits, for example, outdoor sockets, that he has to do a ton of testing of other circuits in the house to verify...
Good evening everyone.
I live in a rural area and as such get asked to do work on farms so I'm looking to find out how others go about certain types of farm installations.

i don't have much domestic experience as i have worked largely in shops and pubs during refurbs.
I have a potential job lined up i want to use for the NICEIC assessment.

EICR IR testing whole installation with circuits protected by RCBOs...
Say it's a single phase consumer unit, plain main switch no RCCBs, all circuits protected by RCBOs,
Is this method acceptable?....
L+N to earth only.
Main switch off (safe isolation), all breakers on.

Hi guys,
How do you use ohms law on a circuit with 0 resistance? So, assume there is 10Amps and 0 Ohms on a circuit, how would you find the voltage? (E=IR?)
Also assume you have a circuit with no resistance on it, where would be considered the return path? Like the potential difference I mean...
Evening All. I am supplying a cooker and an electric hob from a single circuit via a single isolation switch. When calculating the demand with diversity i.e. first 10A + 30% remainder, should this be for each appliance then added together or combined?
Either way I get 28.4A or 21.4A for a 6.6kW...
