How would you code this?
A 8kw shower (so pulling ~37A) is protected by a B32 breaker. 6mm² cable rated at 47A, ref method C
(Actually, that last bit isn't true. In fact it's currently ref 101 = 27A, but an easy fix to get it to ref C, so for the sake of the discussion, let's pretend it's...
Hi. This is a gloriously messy installation I looked at this morning at a house a friend just purchased. It t became quickly clear it was more economical to rewire than rectify. I will however be putting findings in writing and there are a couple of new situations for me. So here goes:
My...
Hi all, I have recently carried out an EICR on a big house and am struggling with coding on quite a big issue. The main tails & earth's are connected into Henley blocks, then looped into 2 separate consumer units right next to the service head/meter etc. Then there is a 3rd set of tails which go...
Hi,
I've gone in to a job as a 2nd opinion on a EICR done by a previous contractor. One of the issues was a C2 for an upside shower switch. It's a neon switch so although its not fitted right it's still obvious when it's on or off.
I've got same issue on with an upside down socket outlet...
Good morning all. How would you code the following?:
1 - Electric shower installed without RCD protection, where manufacturer states it is required? Supplementary bonding present.
Normally I would give this a C3, but in this case the manufacturer states RCD required, so am erring towards C2...
I recently undertook an EICR report for a small house and the conservatory extension had a separate fuseboard which was fed from a 13A plug top.
Obviously this is not ideal but when coming to code it I couldn’t describe why it is any more than a C3.
The main distribution board feeding the...
Not unusual in townhouses that have been converted into flats round here to see all the meters in the basement, each feeding a switched fuse spur that then feeds 16mm T+E to each flat. Obviously that's a run of tens of metres, concealed in walls etc with no RCD protection.
Guessing it was...
As above really. First time I have seen this but its basically 16mm twin and earth connected straight into the outgoing side of the meter, and into the consumer unit. Quality. Couldn't quite get a picture of the external MET but can confirm an additional cable has been added to bring the size of...
I am wondering what the installation methods should be for cables run under floor boards and then into stud walls but without thermal insulation...102,103 dont seem relevant and so my understanding leads me to think it would be a cross between c for clipped direct under the boards and then b for...
Yes, it's another EICR coding question - hurrah!
Inspecting a small 1 bed 70s ex-council flat that was going well. Main Bonding had been put in place in advance and most of the tests were as perfect as you could get. Seriously, if you wanted to set up a 'perfect' test rig I don't...
Afternoon all,
A quick EICR question. I have found a Ring Final Circuit that has been run in 1.5/1mm twin and earth. It is RCD protected and OCPD is a 16a type B MCB. All testing has come back as expected for a Ring final that has been installed in 1.5/1mm and the measured Zs is well within max...
Hi all, just carrying out a EICR with a colleague of mine and fairly new Build house. Install is pretty good all tests came up good with no issues. But we were discussing the RFCs in the house they have 3 installed
1.Upstairs Ring
2. Downstairs Ring
3. Kitchen/Utility Ring
We were discussing...
I’ve had a disagreement with a colleague on this. Installation has 100ma rcd main switch.
Some circuits (5) on this side and further 4 on the
30ma rcd side.
what is the coding for this?
Good evening,
I am just wondering whether or not non fire rated downlights should be a coded issue (c3 as many electricians have told me) or whether this is false. From memory I believe napit code breakers made it a c3 if there was a room above.
P.s I'm still learning and this just seems to...
Hello, I'm new to this forum. I'm not quite sure about RCD protection for a domestic dwellings - No RCD protection on circuits where cables are not buried to 50mm - I'm of the opinion its a code 3 however some colleagues are saying its a code 2 ( I cant find clarification on this ) - Any ideas...
Got a consumer unit fitted touching a gas pipe on an upcoming eicr, old rewire-able unit, no idea what came first, unit or pipe, but it’s obviously less than the 150 mm mentioned in the on site guide, I know regs are not retrospective but would that come into it in this instance?.....and how...
Hi guys what would you code a wall light fitting mounted about 300mm away from an oak beamed cieling? The fitting has led lamps fitted but could be replaced with halogen etc?
