PIR Coding to BS7671 only
Hi Guys I have recently been hauled over the coals for coding items that are not in BS7671 e.g. No lighting in an Intake Room, Asbestos in Switchgear, etc The customer says its not a reg (I agree) but I coded it a 2 as it needs lighting and is against the EAWR1989 They say I should only...- semaphore

Coding taken to far
I have been given a PIR and asked to do all codes 1 and 2 ok but the tester has applied interesting code2s heres a few the list is not endless. 1 Incorrect screws in panel cover. 2 dust at bottom of d.b 3 No 230V labels. 4 Panel has no markings sayiny 2 different wiring tyopes...- scotsparky

Just to settle few arguments with non electrical based no it alls..!! No gas/water bonding code 2 :) absence of rcd code 4 :) broken socket (faciua intact but switch defective, constantly on) code 1 :confused: absence of earth sleeving code 4:) cable sheath on flex not taken into enclosure...- DurhamSparky

PIR coding
I noticed on an inspection today that all switches I opened to inspect were wired red and black with no red sleeving to identify the black as a live. Seemed to be the same throughout the property although the spark who wired it took the trouble of sleeving at the ceiling roses?! I appreciate...- Rob
