Anyone fitted these new sockets with integral usb charger slots? I've found you have to disconnect a supply wire when doing IR test.. might seem obvious with hindsight but caught me out the first time :dunce2:

Hi lads help appreciated....describe how a prospective fault current test should be performed using a 3 lead instrument on single phase consumer unit? Cheers
I've come across a problem today that has completely stumped me. I used my clamp meter on the main protective conductor and found there was over 4A flowing. Checking the line and neutral conductors, they each had exactly 2A. Obviously these numbers do not add up as if there was leakage to earth...

hello every body,
I have been to a house this evening after a customer calls regarding a tripping rcd, I did the usual, all circuits off then on 1 by 1, it seems to randomly trip regardless of which breaker is switched back on, even mcbs on the non rcd side caused it to trip, which I thought a...
Hello,
I am a (non-electrician) newbie on this forum. I was hoping that you clever folks might be able to give me some advice on how to wire a PIR light for my front porch.
The PIR light has two settings. The first is activated by the sensor. The second is flicking on a light switch inside...
Been testing today on a new installation, it was a lighting circuit all lighting weird via click roses. Came to the rcbo test, trips on 5x at 100ms then says plus 40 on 5x. Quickly swapped out rcbo thinking it was just faulty and does same again with the new one. Some rooting around in loft i...

Hi all
Am doing 2394/95 at moment and trying to get procedure firmly stuck in head. Thing I'm getting a little bit confused with is with some of the vids/examples online some state to switch main switch on (obviously before supply connected) and others off. My thinking is that you might as...
Hi all
looking for a bit of advise on an outside light switch. It was covered by a blank socket plate. There's a few wires in there and was wondering which goes where as it keeps flipping the rcb.
I installed a 32A Crabtree rcbo then came to testing it! It tripped fine but the readings were as follows >310mS @x1 and >50mS @x5, is the rcbo faulty.
All connection were fine.
The board was a split load with an RCD protected side, I tested this RCD and obtained satisfactory readings!!
I...

Hi Peeps,
Got a call from a nearby neighbour who had lost all power in his house.

Hi guys,
i have always wondered when doing insulation resistance testing is there a test you can do to see if there are any loads still connected (ie neons, equipment) to see if the readings are true or through loads connected in the circuit.
Hi i have been trying to find in either the osg or regs book where it states that a shed or garage not connected to the house must use a TT earthing system instead of using the house PME, i have been told from a Niceic that it must be TT and also been told by elecsa that a PME is ok to use, so i...
