Hello electrical sparkly people!
Can anyone tell me I can charge two 12V leisure batteries from my starter battery? The leisure batteries are connected in series to charge a 24V 3000W (6000W peak) inverter. To confuse things, I also have two 12V batteries which came with my Ford Transit Jumbo...

Hi all,
Would anyone know how I can test the emergency light inverter in a fitting as the batteries in the fittings are not charging. The fittings are about 5yrs old, but as per usual, the installer never put the installation date on the battery pack.
I'm not too sure if my thinking of...

Hi, all continuity test results are ok now I replaced all the loose earths in all the sockets and lamp holders around the house. The radial going off to feed the boiler/shower/not sure what else, all branches out of a old unfused spur where the neon no longer works, and this radial is where I am...
Hello all,

ok so im working in a property and the lady has a 16A RCBO on the RCD side of the fuse board in her house... it feeds a 100A 5way rcd CCU in her garage supplied by 2.5 SWA... everything in the garage turns on fine but when you plug anything into a socket it bypasses the 100A RCD in the garage...
Hi guys, as the title suggests just trying to get my head round three phase sequence testing, if I understand it correctly this is confirm that the three phases are in sequence.....obviously :)
Now as I understand it this is obviously a live test and a three test leads are connected to L1 L2 L3...
I have just been asked by a customer if he can just plug his new cooker into a socket. I have said 'No' it needs to be on a dedicated circuit..
I then thought I'd do a bit of research as its only a 2.5kW oven and wanted to see it in black and white in the regs.
I didn't ecpect the Electricians...
Can anybody help... Went to a job Friday where apparently RCD is coming out once every couple of nights. The rcd covers 4 circuits which are sockets, sockets, heating and outdoor shed. I have carried out a blanket test and I am getting a reading of about 20M This is with loads conncted apart...
Hi. I ve purchased two of these ballast, reflector lamp kits. Internally they are already wired, but i need to wire the socket and extend the cable. As you can see in the photos there are two cables coming into the ballast. The only reasonable explanation to it is that they were connected in...

1. I carried out a x1 rcd test on a 30ma rcd and the time came in at 44ms with doesn't comply with the circuit disconnecting by 0.4ms. What is the problem? Old/faulty rcd? X5 was 13ms.
2. Done my continuity test on a ring and all continuity was proved. However my neutrals end to end was 0.61...
Installed under floor heating connected to a rcd socket turned it on floor warms up but test button keeps popping. Dont know what rating the floor is never done any floor heating before and prat that done it has thrown all the gear away. Any rough guesses what size rcd socket needed and how do I...
Hi,
I've recently bought a dual fuel cooker which requires hardwiring.
The user manual states that it needs to be connected to a double pole control unit with a minimum rating of 32A. However, i've just had an electrician round who, after looking in the manual, said that the oven only needs 8A...

Hi all,
was hoping someone could explain to me how I test/verify the lightning protection bonding.
