Good morning sparkies
Just wanted to run this by you. I do small maintainance jobs in 4 small flats & 5 small houses. They came under new management a couple of years ago. They have had a full EICR carried out last year & have had all the proteus 16...
I have a semi detached block of 5 holiday flats and the one I live in. When renewing the insurance a lot of companies want an electrical installation safety test certificate. So I have been reading up and it looks like I need to get tested asap.
I am worried I might need a complete rewire and...
Hiya,
I have received a coupe of quotes for electrical work that I need doing.
One is supply and fit, the other quote for fitting only.
However, on the supply and fit, I have been quoted a ridiculous price for some Wylex circuit breakers. £4.55 each in Screwfix, whereas I have been quoted...

There's lots on the market some great and some terrible.
Some cheap and good
Some more expensive and terrible (square D I'm looking at you)
Which is your preferred mains board?
I'm a wylex person myself.

I have a job comming up where I need to run power from the house to an outbuilding into a new consumer unit and then from this building to another where there will be a smaller consumer unit. I have completed my calculations and the cable leaving the house will need to be 25mm and then 16mm on...

Hi Chaps
Have you guys fitted any of the Schneider consumer units from toolstation?
They seem good value.
Is there room for a RCBO setup in them.
Thanks

In France we use Bipolar MCBs everywhere and one advantage is that a circuit can be properly isolated even if Madam has a load in the washing machine while you are doing stuff on another circuit. I have come across cases where a UK style consumer unit has been used in a DIY renovation – and I...

I have just installed 4 new split consumer units in an old edwarian house. The boards are not in the same place and are being fed by the meter in a barn about 60 meters away. Very unconventional setup. The tails (25mm) come into the kitchen and I have put the feeds for 3 of the boards through a...

Does anyone have any views or recommendations on flush fit consumer units that don't look hideous?
From what I've seen of pictures online the Hager and MK are both hardly flush in my mind as it looks like they stick out an inch or so.
I've been trying to find some pictures of the Wylex metal...

Hi folks. My house has Econ.7 therefore I have 2 consumer units. Is it possible to incorporate the heating board into the main board. I don't do any domestic stuff. I've seen dual boards and split boards but I'm cofused as to what the difference is. For example can I buy a dual board and...
I am in the middle of a new build house construction (bungalow) where the runs from the main consumer unit (if there is only 1)
will be in some cases nearly 60 meters of cable. So i was thinking, that it might be smarter to put a second consumer unit at
the other end of the house and run a...

Keep getting asked by friends to change their domestic consumer units. Can anyone inform me of the proper procedures to follow? There could be a few to do but am not sure if I need to supply paper work etc.
