hi all asked to change two boards the other day to new 17th boards. the two boards was running from the same supply i.e single phase with 100amp main fuse. has anyone else seen this before and is it acceptable. -

Consumer units MCB/RCD
Hi , can anyone out there clarify this situation? On a periodic inspection for a landlord, you discover that the consumers unit is farly new (hager,mcbs) but no rcd protection what action should be reported? marked as non complient or acceptable? Also battery (not mains) powerd smoke detectors... -

Additional Consumer units.
Going to be starting work soon for a company who never change the main board if extra circuits required they just put a small 2 way next to the existing board.The way I would do this would be to spilt the tails and use henly blocks,In some cases this way cant be possible so which other methods... -

my local wholesaler has a special on MK 10 way boards at the moment 65 quid including 2 rcd's and breakers. seems good to me. what are they like on quality and to work with? always use hager myself so not much experience of mk although a quick look at the board atthe wholesaler and it looked ok...- andekoch

I have been tempted by lower cost CUs particularly BM / Europa/Protek/Q-line products which are sometimes 70% cheaper than better known makes.The MCBs used by say BM which are London based seem to have compatibiity with MCBs from better known manufacturers.
