Hi guys, just want a quick sanity check on an installation.
a chap wants 3, 3Kw heaters wired with a programmable thermostat to control all 3 heaters.
my thoughts are:
40A supply to a Contactor ( L-1, N-3)
heaters connected to the contactor ( L-2, N-4)
then a Perm live to the thermostat...
Are the contactor response times significantly different between for each manufacturer?
For certain types of relay logic it's quite critical (drop-out and pick-up time, NO/NC sequence).
Usually NC contacts are disconnected first before NO contacts are connected.
Had to replace 4NO 4NC Siemens...
Hi guys,
after some advice please.
Been asked to install electrics for an underfloor heating system that consists of 3 x 10m2 mats, at a maximum rating of 2400 watts per mat, ran off the one thermostat (max 16amps).
Has anybody ever wired this system using a 40amp contactor?? And if so all...
HI all
First post on here so be gentle!
I want to connect a pir in my garage to switch off my 1.5kw compressor. Would your average home/diy pir do the job.
Many thanks
Jarse
Hi folks,
Mainly do domestic with a smattering of commercial. Currently repositioning a few extra sockets in a small office and noticed an old Mem contactor still in use. I understand basically what a contactor does but have never used nor fitted them before.
So, got a bit of a head...
Diagram attached shows what I believe could work for a well pump used on a farm. Basically the pump has been burning out and I have found the cause, its because they turn the pump on then forget and the water runs out in the well thus its dry pumping. So i was thinking of introducing this sort...
When looking at contactors, does the coil voltage refer to auxiliary a1/a2 such as 24v supplied from a plc output and contact voltage rating refers to the feed/load being switched? If a contactor is rated to 690v/3-pole could it be used for 415v/3pole or 230v single pole?
Recently had to work on Chinese plastics dryer with an overload relay wired in series with contactor latching circuit auxiliary contacts. When the overload trips you can still turn on the motor while the button is pressed. Why is that? It should be tight before the A1 or A2 terminal
I have seen...
Hi,
where re can I get a 12v 4 Pole NC contactor capable of day 50A or more...?
i can't seem to find one, the alternative is can I pull a contactor on with 230v that's closing or opening 12v circuits? Seems wrong to mix ELV with LV.
Hi,
Can you see any potential problems pulling a contractor on with a remote control light switch?
basically got a summerhouse that the customer wants to easily be able to isolate in a fancy way such as this and I said I do t see why not.
its a load of say up to 32A through a contractor etc...
Hi all,
Now every days a school day!!Not had many dealings with contactors!!!!!I know it's just basically a switch but better to ask I feel!!I have a new consumer unit to install for a 7 storey block of flats. The (sub)d/b is for the stairwell and the communal lighting. The lights are to be...
Hi
I've installed the electrics for an underfloor heating system. The system has 6 manifolds each with a small pump. There is then a primary pump that pushes hot water through the system from an aerobic digester next door. I have fitted 6 contactor each using a switch wire from the thermostat...
I have a 13amp spur, fed by a 2.5mm cable, protected by a 16amp RCBO , supplying a contactor, which in turn has a ring main coming off it; this has roughly 30 sockets on it, for an IT suite.
This is the the first time I have seen a Ring main wired like this; Is this up to regs and if so what...
Hi I don't know if anyone can help but I was wondering if anyone has come up with any solutions to this problem. In that we have a 210kw pv system connected to the mains panel at a big office block and they have a back up generator with auto change over fitted so when the grid fails the...
Any thoughts on this would be a great help.
I've got a 4pole 300mA rcd feeding a DB section through a contactor. The section in question feeds a load of 250/400w hit fittings through SP mcbs (4 per mcb x5 ). There are some other circuits on there but I've ruled them out.
The problem being...
Hi,
Got a job to do next week, just wanted your opinion on it really,
I am fitting a Dimplex IRX2000 Infrared Heater 2kW, and it needs to come on automatically when someone enters the room, only a small outside toilet.
Anyway, I was going to put it on a PIR with a contactor, but then just...
I need to switch 2No 3kW heaters on using a 7 day heating programmer. Presumably I'll need a contactor to switch that load rather than the heating programmer (?).
Can anyone recommend a suitable one? Many thanks if anyone can help,
Peter
Afternoon guys,
I have got myself a little pickle.
I went to machine today and a fuse on the supply to the machine is blowing. I think I have soured the fault to the faulty coil on my contactor I am going to replace it with this...
Hi,
Does anybody know what can be used to control a number of storage heaters other than an Mem Autoline 3 Contactor due to the part being obsolete?
My knowledge on contactors isn't fantastic so help would be much appreciated!
I have a panel, on our large hammer forge which causes a hell of a lot of vibration hitting a 5tonne tube, anyway I am loosing my retain on 2 x small contactors LC1 18a which feed a servo and lubrication system and when the tube is nearly forged into a bottle neck shape it also causes a small 5a...
