Question for any of you guys that do a fair bit of core drilling-
Do you drill with hammer action on or off ? I've got a decent enough drill ( makita 8406c 1400w)
Ive found I get better results on hammer but dont want to damage the drill ... Thoughts?
Cheers

Quick question. I was adding a 2 way switch to a lighting circuit and discovered a T&E where only one wire was used. he second had just been cut off and not used. I always connect unused cores to the CPC and sleeve green/yellow. Is this common practice or just me?
Fitting an inline fan today. Brought my 4" core bit in and the guy says "oh those are great, it cuts through brick like a knife through butter". Yeh right i thought.
Started to cut hole, the bricks were hard as rock! Also it was an old place so no cavity so you had to go through 2 lots of brick...

Think my plumber mate must be getting fed up with me borrowing his core drill and 110mm TCT cutter.
So time has come to buy myself one.
Any recommendations on both items please - will get used no more than about 12 times/year, so don't really want to spend megga bucks on the drill if poss...
I need to install a sub-main supply cable from the house to a shed approx 100M away. The SWA needs to be 25mm csa for volt drop requirements - I intend to install a 100mA RCD and 40A MCB to protect the cable for overload / fault protection using the armouring as a means of earth. Then with the...

This is what I have so far, load = 42A cable chosen - 6mm = R1. R2 is the copper equivalent csa which = 9.75mm2
The closest to this I found is -10mm2 line conductor and 6mm2 protective conductor
Getting to the point I think I can just reverse this to get R1+R2 so 6mm line and 10mm cpc ?

I've got a job coming up which I need to install 7 extract fans. Is it worth investing in a core bit?
Any of you use them or just do it the old fashion way?.
