Now then, for a single phase circuit, using a 3 core SWA having brown black and grey conductors... I always think that you should sleeve the black with G+Y to use as earth, and sleeve the grey up with blue to use as neutral.
I cant find it in the regs or any of my other books, but I thought...
hi folks,
just been to a job the day to change over 300 down lgts from low voltage to mains voltage l.e.d's. problem is there currently fed from 4 way trannies in 2 core flex. ive been told that it is fine to choc box the 2 core in with the mains to feed the mains dwn lgts as there class 2...
So time has come, everyone is sick of me asking them to drill me holes or borrow their cutter.
Bought a cheap high power drill today and now need a core bit @117mm what would you buy and what should I avoid?
THANKYOU!
Just a quicky,
Lighting circuit supplied by 4 core swa has become overloaded.
Would there be anything wrong with splitting into 2 circuits and using the 4 cores for L and N and the steel armour for earth for both? all conductors would be identified with sleeving.
Otherwise new cable needs...
Hi guys
SWA feeding outside lighting and socket outlets etc.
Set up like this:
Single phase.
L & N T&E out of MCB in main board to feed sperate enclosure with only an RCD module in. So L&N feeding an RCD.
Then, 4 core SWA is glanded to this board.
2 of the cores (L/N) connect...
Hi,
I have been connected some two-way switches for an passageway light. After isolating the circuit started working on the new wiring for the switches, touched the earth core of the lighting cable on the supply side (disconnected) and the Consumer Unit RCD protecting all the circuits tripped...
Hi all,
I'm doing some work on a house with a pool, which has its own ccu about 20 meters from the main board. It currently doesn't have a main earth from the supply. Obviously this means I need to run a 16mm earth back to the supply, with the only option being an outdoor run along an exterior...
Hi everyone,
just reading and giving myself examples of cables etc to work out cable selection and volt drop ( I know its Friday, but I have to keep reading or I will forget )!!!
If for example you have an swa 3core (brown, grey, black), which , say your running to a supply from a DB board...
Good evening, I am about to purchase a new SDS drill but today I was fitting an extractor and could have really done with a core drill. A few questions if I may.. Do you think this is man enough as it would be nice to have an allrounder instead of a dedicated core drill? Can anyone better this...
Hi all
Need to drill some 50mm holes through a wall What do you guys advise - should I look at buying a Diamond Core set, TCT or individual bits? I would need to use them with my Dewalt SDS or should I look for a cheap core drill as well ?? :)
I dont do a lot of external works, however, I have been asked to install some power for general lighting and powerto an outbuilding with no extraneous conductive parts 15 meters from the main board and my thoughts were;
The supply is tt, so 10mm 2 core swa from spare way in main board to CU in...
Hello,
My cousin is an electrician and has connected 3 Core twin & Earth to a switch in the kitchen which is currently running a 150w PIR Security light at the side of my house. The 3 Core T&E runs out into my garden and left on the reel waiting for me to hook up 3 spike lights. I have bought...
had an argument at work today about a 12 core cable and now hes made me unsure. as iv done this many times b4. i ran a 12 core cable in to a junction box from a control panel using 5 for lives 5 for neutrals and using a common earth fusing the lives and using disconect terminals for the neutrals...
What is double core CT? I mean that does double core CT has two secondary windings & a tripple core CT has three secondary windings? Moreover, how we display these windings on the diagram? I mean will a single core CT show two windings on its secondary or just one? How much windings will a...
Hi does anyone use a good core drill? I am looking to purchase one for occasional use, mainly 4" holes for fans etc.
I have seen 2 around the same price but wondered if they would be powerful enough.
Any suggestions
The first one is a bosch ...
Gentlemen,
I am adding a new ring and lighting circuit to an integral garage. I'll be taking a 2.5mm t&e cable from a 32A MCB at the main CU into the garage via underfloor, to a small remote CU (20A ring, 6Amp lighting mcb's) in the garage. The main CU will give RCD protection to the whole...
