Good Afternoon to all,
I am installing a fire system within a small office with which I have no issues.
This install is for a very fussy client who pays well so all good there, but he has a request that I have not come across before.
My question is does anyone know of or has used a flush...
Hi again! I believe this could be my last question for a little while as the chases have pretty much all gone in!
How are domestic smoke detectors wired?
I plan to have one in the hall way just outside the kitchen and one at the top of the stairs.
Do I take a feed from the lighting circuit...
Anybody here offering CO and Smoke detectors to customers? could fit them at cost when doing other work in domestic locations....even just Battery operated ones...
There's a lot of dodgy gas heating etc out there and also the Holiday season in December with the candles etc....
Hi Guys.
A customer of mine owns a shop and has had a visit from the Fire Officer who has informed her that she must fit mains, interlinked smoke detectors.
I haven't as yet seen the letter but my customer was sure that it wasn't demanding that she fit a fire alarm system just smoke detectors...

Is there a regulation that states there must be mains powered smoke detectors in a property? Currently working at a property that doesn't have any, what code would this be on a periodic inspection?
I've been reading forum posts on domestic smoke alarms and also the Approved Doc B and the regs. I'm still confused one one or two points.
..So it seems it IS OK to run them off a existing RCD. This seems to be the most common way nowadays to do it - with it's own circuit/MCB.
But Approved doc...
A heat detector supplied by a lighting circuit with no link to another, would this normally require a fire alarm cert?

Should a heat detector also be fitted into the kitchen area? The OSG states that a Heat detector should be fitted if there...
