On the main over current protective device I'm looking at it states 100 amp 1.3/16 DIA does anyone no what type and Bsen num it is as I can't see it in the regs.
Thanks Chris
Never seen one of these before but I'm sure plenty of you guys have. Please could someone be kind enough to tell me more about it:thumbsup
Would this be part of the distributors equipment or the consumers?
Many Thanks in advance
I have been using these device covers for the last 5 years personally with good response but do not really pursue selling them. I would like to get them reviewed for a more widespread use. I would consider it a new idea. I am new to this website so will try to figure out how to get pictures to...
Two questions here really
Am i right in thinking that PFC is Prospective Fault Current or is it power factor corection?
Second question is why is it important to know the Prospective Fault Current?
Thanks
Hi everyone,
I have been having constant issues with lamps blowing all the time within my home and i consulted a local electrician to investigate for any issues, he advised that i have a higher than normal voltage and recomended a voltage optimisation device to lower the voltage which would...
Hello.

Hello everyone,
I'm having a few problems with linking an SMA wireless bluetooth monitoring device to an inverter.
The inverer is an SMA SB 1700 with a piggy back bluetooth module installed.
I have set up the device using netID: 2 on the piggyback module.
I can get the laptop to connect to...
Is anyone aware of any UK regs that describe the maximum length of a supply cable between the main supply and a protective device such as an RCD in an industrial installation?
I ask this because I have come across what I am sure is a dangerous installation at work but need the regs to back me...
Hi there,
Have installed a new circuit for a bathroom heater (3Kw)
TT system, old style wlyex rewirable DB. Earth rod reading 126 ohms, so ok with that. Bonding fine.
Main RCD on incomer did not trip out when tested...its 1 of those old style crabtree 60a ones with a yellow test button. Shall i...
I was hoping someone wouldn't mind giving me a shove in the right direction regarding something I saw today, Pleeease :).
I kept my mouth shut because I didn't want to open a can of worms without having the ammo to back up any explanation required.

I've noticed on a couple of ocassions now.
That my Type s 100ma rcd will somtimes trip before either of my 30ma rcd. CAN some one tell me why this may happen?
Hi guys just wondering about the issue mentioned in title. I work for a firm who have a testing side and because of my 2391 i get pulled off on testing quite often.
my company seem to think that if there are 3 or more cables in one breaker that this is classed as a code 2 which can fail the...
What tripping time should I expect to be acceptable when doing a ramp test on both 30ma and 100ma rcds. I mean is 70ma tripping time on a 100ma rcd too sensitive?
Title says it all.
Admitting my inexperience here, but yesterday I was working on some machinery wired in star without the neutral connected outside the device.
If all phases are balanced then N has no current flowing down it!
One of those things, it is obvious if you think about it, just have...
Is there any reg or scenario where it is acceptable to have 3 line conductors in the same 32A 60898 protective conductor ?
Still ascertaining wheter two of which are a ring final but if they are is there some way that is allowed ? A RFC and a another Fused spur circuit in the same protective...
Testing a fire alarm panel today as we have to extend it to add some more smoke heads and call points. So prior to work had a look around and made sure zones were identified correctly and readings on circuits were as they should be.On one zone circuit I had a capacitor in the panel across the...
BRB 559.6.1.6
refers to lighting circuits incorporating lampholders beiong protected by a max overcurrent device of 16A.
But what about lighting circuits that dont incorporate lampholders, such as plug in ceiling rose arrangements feeding fluors or lay in grid fittings for example?
Can anyone...
Just tested property with a HUGE ring circuit and got 1.4 ohms on a type C RCBO. Given the max is .57 there is no chance of getting this close. Has anyone come across this before and what would be the advice given that it is protected by an RCBO and if you consider a TT system it is better than...
I needed replacement plugs for rechargeable batteries (eg from mobile phone devices) and had heard alot of alarming statements (no pun intended) on general related websites, all telling me to avoid third party adapters that had an incorrect or higher output in voltage or current than what a...

Insulation res. test n&e would trip (set 500v) rsbo/rcd
What is the threshold / trip ...not trip, ohms reading on tester
I guess some manufacturers may differ slightly, but there must be an inbetweeny?
In the old days, n&e...
